The Slider Leash by Black Diamond is a simple, streamlined leash with a slim pad that is ideal for use on general mountaineering axes as well as on technical ice axes. A metal barrel slides down the leash to cinch the wrist loop tight and clean off snow and ice.

You may as well just make yer own w/ some webbing. Buy a bit too much and figure out the sizing. Won't be as bulky and stiff as this, and you'll look more pro.

"It's about as good as a leash can be I guess. Pretty stiff, but durable and easy to adjust." 09/26/11

It's easy to adjust and it's super durable. The problem with that is that it's pretty stiff and therefore can get in your way sometimes (beyond just getting in your way because it's on your wrist and attached to your axe). Adjusting the length and the wrist loop is super easy, which is nice.

"light, simple, and works" 08/05/11

I planned a climb on the back end of a backcountry backpacking adventure, so I was hoping to have a leash that would keep my ice axe - or me - from sliding down a 50 degree slope without weighing me down on my way there. The Slider fit the bill. As a bonus, the metal barrel was quite easy to adjust, so switching between hands was quite easy.

"Well, It's what I expected" 07/29/10

Well if your looking for a leash this is it. Not much to say other than it really meets expectations and should work fine for my black diamond raven ax.Not sure how you can "love it!" when I thought was a little overpriced for what it is. They're just lucky that no climber wants to drop is ax on a slope and can make their profit margin pretty huge on 3 feet of fabric.But, big ups because it doesn't have any flaws.

"Easy and Comfy!" 08/09/08

Easy to put wrist through even with gloves on. Very comfortable and light. I had a small fall that made me instinctively put my hands out and lost grip in an instant. Thanks to the leash I was able to reset without missing a beat. Handy in the dark!

"Simple and it works." 05/21/08

Nice no-frills leash that does exactly what it is supposed to. Can be adujusted in a long or short style leash, and the padding around the wrist end is nice. I was a little worried about the metal slide adjustment, but so far is works smooth. Ill report back if that changes over time.
