The best probe is the one you'll actually carry.Out here in the Cascades there is a lot of talk on the message boards about which probe to carry and use, and strangely Moosejaw doesn't carry the most popular one, the Black Diamond SuperTour 265 (sold by a large local Co-op which shall remain nameless) This Carbon Fiber version is lighter but there have been reports of it breaking during practice when someone shoved or bent it in a less-than-straight-up-or-down manner. Avvy debris can get hard fast, so I bought an aluminum model. Your choice, but carry a probe for god's sake. Hopefully you never have to use it, but if you do, you'd better have it.
