"best day backpack" 01/10/11
I'm using backpacks for my daily walk to/from work. Whenever I was logging a couple of papers, gym gear, water and books, I used to get shoulder pain. With the Nitro the pain is gone. The straps move with your upper body when you walk and make the pack a part of your body. Totally awesome ! I think that's the best invention on the backpack market since a long time and can highly recommend it.
"Great backpack, but watch the weather!" 10/24/10
I am still thrilled how comfortable this backpack is! Took it for a one day hike and felt almost like I wasn't carrying anything at all. The straps are easily adjustable and equally fitted myself with narrower shoulders and my friend who is twice my size. The outer pocket was very useful for stuffing in my jacket and smaller things such as flashlights. But there is also a downside to this pack - it's not waterproof! So watch the forecast and if you expect showers buy an extra rain cover or an impregnation spray!!
"An excellent and versatile pack" 09/22/10
Besides the main compartment, it has a small zippered pocket that fits my wallet, keys, cell phone, and a couple granola bars if you don't mind crushing them a bit. There are two side pockets, but the elastic isn't great, so if you flip the pack around your water bottle is liable to fall out. Also, there is an outer sleeve that allows room for expansion for a jacket or gives you easy access to items. I use it bouldering for my shoes and chalk, so everything inside doesn't become a white-encrusted rancid vortex of funk, while allowing me to easily get to them as I move from one problem to the next. The waist belt and shoulder straps are easily adjustable and keep the pack feeling secure.
"I loved this pack til it rained-just a little!" 08/09/10
Many hikes/climbs with this pack I loved fit+fact it weighs 3lbs less than other pack. After day of rain -2 thumbs down.Big TIME.Woulda been better 2 have pack made of mesh-at least the water would drain & not pool. This pack has NO WATERPROOFING.PLUS carrying ESSENTIALs such as flashlight,GPS,TP,I take heavyduty garbagae bag to put ALL stuff in.Precip accumulates 1st in outside flap pocket, then leaks into the pack, so layers of warmer clothes get soaked.Everything in top pocket was full of water. so much fun to pry $ bills apart and lay out to dry.BEWARE if you ever use this pack when it rains!Black D., I'm disappointed, exp'd more of your brand.
"Felt great for day hike with lots of boulder hopping and scrambling" 04/29/10
I wore the pack with 3.5 liters of fluids and snacks and gear for a day hike in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife reserve in Lawton, OK. The hike involved a lot of boulder hopping, scrambling, and even some short free climbs. It handled the load well and was not cumbersome at all. At the end of the hike I had zero shoulder soreness that I occasionally get with other packs. I would definitely recommend the pack for day hikes and overnight backpacking trips.
"Perfect for quick day trips" 02/12/10
The reACTIVE suspension system's comfortable shoulder straps and hip belt really does work efficiently and effectively. Scrambling up and down inclines and rocks never felt easier as the suspension moves with me and allowed unencumbered freedom of movement and a greater sense of balance. The zippered front panel, hipbelt and front stash pockets were great for easy access to rain-wear, snacks, and gear. Overall, an awesome pack that suits my needs.
