Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best! This is the best locking carabiner for guiding on the market, by far. Here's why: 1. It performs the normal functions of a pearabiner - you can use a munter hitch, rappel and belay with two ropes evenly. 2. It's light and small - but not too small to get ropes out of easily. 3. When using the ATC in Guide mode, this carabiner gives a smooth belay. other carabiners are either too thin and it is hard to pull the ropes through the device; or the carabiner is nicely round, but a huge carabiner. 4. The gate stays closed better than the Petzl Attache and other lockers on the market...but it doesn't get stuck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workhorse This is definitely a biner that excels as an all rounder. ,,,,Good size and shape for belaying while still being significantly lighter and more compact than belay-specific biners such as the rocklock. ,,,,I've used and abused mine for close to a year and the only visible wear is with the anodised colour layer on rope bearing surfaces. ,,,,The screw-lock is smooth and does not lock up too tight after a big fall. Caught my friend after he skipped a bolt and then missed his next clip, massive whipper and once I lowered him off it was as easy as ever to un do. ,,,,Black Diamond makes quality stuff, and this biner doesn't dissapoint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I use this biner every climb I climb. I don't use double ropes like the other reviewer, but it seems like the pear shaped biner does what it is designed to do. This biner is designed to function differently than a round/old school biner. I use this in conjunction with my ATC Guide and GridLock biner. I own the GridLock, RockLock, Positron Locker and VaporLock. They all serve their purpose and I typically use this Mini Pearabiner to hold the rope in my ATC Guide as a belay from the top (the GridLock holds the ATC Guide to the anchor/masterpoint).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my new biners This biner has a tapered point at the lock-in which is very handy when clipping into permanent anchors. we were top roping at Grand Ledge MI and used the permanent anchors with the new biners we bought that day from Moosejaw. they slipped into the permanent anchors very easily and I am here today to tell about it. I was teaching Dan top roping and belaying techniques. PS I wrote this review the first time and didn't click on a rating so the page came back saying I needed to click a rating. None of the text of the review came back so I had to write this all over again. can you make the page come back with the text on it so all I would of had to do was click on a rating?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great biner A great alternative to a heavier full size pear without much sacrifice of rope surface. I use this with a ATC Guide and a figure 8. Heat seems to transfer better on long rappels than on other I-beam lockers that are lighter. Also used a friends gri-gri and a Mammut smart and the rope surface and overall size works a well as a RockLock, (has about 1.5mm less surface on top rope surface). Overall a great pear biner.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Missed details I use this type of carabiner exclusively for belaying and rappelling. I frequently employ Autoblock belays. The inconsistent cross-sectional shape results in binding when used during auto blocking. Round is still best... All the way around... From nose to hinge. The asymmetric shape also pulls rope into the corner. Not so good with two ropes. Again... Binds and causes friction between strands. Good call on screw gate, size, and key lock features.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great belay biner Perfect for belaying or rapelling - the large basket fits any rope cleanly, and the largish size helps dissipate heat. A bit heavy to carry for anchor building, but I always have it on my rack with my ATC.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good belay biner This is a good biner to use for your belay device, especially if you have one that can be used in guide mode. The fat round profile makes it really smooth to feed the rope, and it will last longer than fancy light biners that will start to groove and wear sooner. ,,They are big enough to hold several cloves well.,,On the other hand, you don't need many of these. For uses other than a belay biner or an anchor where you want to hold a bunch of cloves, I would get smaller and ligher lockers.
