Black Diamond doesn't state how the Post-Op Hoody got its name, but I'm going to guess that it has to do with its almost surgical blend of natural and synthetic fibers. Like the designers went into an operating room, put brushed merino wool and StretchWoven nylon onto the operating table.... then lightning struck a rod, they threw a switch and VOILA. The result was the super warm, insulating, moisture-wicking, Post-Op hooded jacket. Great for technical ascents or simply kicking it around town.

Sort of almost greatI felt there were a couple of design flaws/oddities with this jacket. First off, it either needs a hem drawcord or a tighter, partially elasticized hem. The loose fitting bottom bells out too much, letting drafts in and generally making the jacket fit in an unflaterring way. It's particularly odd since the rest of the jacket is fairly form fitting, which brings me to my next point: the shoulders, upper back and chest are too tight in comparison to the rest of the jacket. I wear a size 42 or 43 jacket and I bought the large size and it was just too tight. And even that would have been somewhat acceptable had the rest of the jacket fit in a similar way. If you're a tall, long torsoed, thinly built, wide hipped person then this might be the cut for you. The material is nicely stretchy, but quite thin with brushed, slightly scratchy merino wool inside. I really wanted to like this jacket but I couldn't make it happen.
