There's nothing I love more than a jacket with "LT" in the name (with the possible exception of a lot of things, like my parents, my dog, my.... well, maybe the LT thing comes in 3rd). I always try to pack as light as possible so I appreciate it when a jacket is tailored to my needs. The Black Diamond Dawn Patrol LT Shell is a good example. This mid-weight soft shell is made of water-repellent StretchWoven nylon with a lean, athletic fit. The hood is adjustable and helmet-compatible, the internal media pocket w/port is mp3 player-compatible, and the pockets are hand-compatible (believe it or not). Overall, the versatile Dawn Patrol LT is you-compatible.

Great 4 seasons soft shellI absolutely love this jacket. It's is my go to soft shell in all four seasons. It's sleaves are long and it's FANTASTIC. I'm 6 ft tall and 200 lbs and this fits me perfectly! The Velcro cuffs are amazing. Super burly and stay in place. Nothing is worse than Velcro that doesn't stick and doesn't help keep the weather out. No problem with that here. The adjustable helmet compatable hood is a great feature and has saved my butt a few times when the weather didn't want to play nice during a climb. The DWR treatment really helps make this a four season soft shell. The rain and snow just beads off. Not waterproof by any means, but in a light snow or mist, this jacket is a great choice. If you ask me, black diamond has hit the nail on the head with this soft shell beauty.

Awesome softshell!I have worn this softshell a lot since purchasing it, and I love it! I am 5'8" 145lbs and ordered a medium. The jacket fits perfect. It blocks wind faith well from my experience, but I would layer it with a wind layer when it gets real crazy outside. As for the water resistance, I've had it out in freezing rain and snow and it preformed great. The material and construction quality are A+. I recommend this jacket if you are looking for a quality softshell.

Good jacket, but If you can swing it, get the full Dawn Patrol Hybrid ShellThe Schoeller fabric is a great idea as an alternative to your traditional DWR-treated jacket treatments.,,,,My thoughts (1-10):,,,,- Craftsmanship: 6 - Sleek design, though I experienced some cuff wear and some unstitching on the inside of the jacket only after 2.5 months of use.,,- Durability: 7 - the jacket may have had a chance encounter with some ice climbing gear and came out OK,,- Functionality: 8 - The Schoeller fabric beads off water well. Won't stop a hurricane, but kept me comfortable on Mt. Washington in winter after sunset.,,- Waterproofness: 7 - You really need to keep the jacket clean to keep the Schoeller fabric functioning, and (I believe) only some of the panels on the jacket are Schoeller. But it's nice to not have to keep an extra DWR bottle around. ,,,,- Interesting note: the DP-LT with fewer features is heavier (504 g/17.8 oz) than the full Dawn Patrol Hybrid Jacket (480 g/16.9 oz).,,,,Great jacket, but if you can catch the upgraded version on sale, scale up.

very light weight and warm. comparable to my north face windstopper.I was expecting a much heavier jacket than came. At first glance I wasn't sure it would be warm enough. It has been and the light weight is wonderful for travel and just about any outdoor activity
