The Black Diamond Magnetron VaporLock Carabiner is a locking carabiner for belaying, as well as traditional or alpine climbing. The pear-shaped carabiner is the lightest weight option in the Magnetron line. The Magnetron technology is easy to use and locks securely with a keylock nose that won't snag. Magnets are so cool, just ask Jesse Pinkman.

My favorite locking 'biner; but yeah, pricey.Magnetron is not actually a twist lock 'biner as Moosejaw implies, but it it's own style using magnets and two clasps on either side of the gate. I find it to be the easiest locking 'biner to operate; simply pinch the two clasps and pull the gate open. Best of all, I have complete confidence that it will lock shut as soon as I release the gate; unlike many twist lock 'biners I've played with. That being said you should always double check that it's locked as a good safety practice. I also own the RockLock version, but I prefer the VaporLock as it is significantly lighter, but there is of course some extra expense for the weight savings. Not a cheap 'biner by any means, but I think it is a perfect 'biner for your belay device as it is really easy to unlock and lock. Can't say I like the color, but it appears that the industry trend is to make everyone's gear rack a rainbow.

Fits my hand wellIt does it's job well as a biner, I particularly like this one cause it's easy and quick to use, plus, I have small hands and unlike some of the locking carabiners I can wrap my hand easily around the back and hold the biner in one hand while unlocking it. It's also lightweight so that's a plus.

Quicker than expectedThis thing opens and closes quicker than I expected. I got it for my wife who has a hard time with screw gates... this is a MAJOR improvement.

Another locking method, couldn't find it better or worse than the other ones. The magnet is a nice locking method but honestly I prefer screw lock or twist lock.,,Must check the double gate Grivel.
