Product Description Item No.   10199428

The Black Diamond Magnetron GridLock Carabiner is a uniquely designed climbing carabiner to prevent cross-loading. Incredibly powerful magnets on either side of the steel insert of the keylock nose and a locking mechanism secure the carabiner shut while still allowing it to be opened easily with one hand. The shape allows the belay loop to be isolated at the lower half, which not only looks cool but won't shift. Climb time, people.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great for easy switching between belay slaves(while top roping) this is great to quickly and easily switch between belayers(top roping) is kind of a pain to reload with a grigri until you get used to it, but i have noticed that while lowering someone with a grigri if you hold the rope to far back the rope can actually open one side of the magnetron, this is scary but the magnetron still doesnt open. another thing is that sometimes my harness can open one side while climbing and its possible a rock could undo the other side at the same time, for this reason i choose to only use this as a belay biner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome high tech belay biner! I bought this for my girlfriend and I to use while sport climbing. I magnetron gives us both the peace of mind that the biner is locked when we are climbing and the gridlock ensures that a cross-load will never happen. Prior to my purchase I was using a petzl william autolocker for belaying, but when I would do a take I would frequently find that the biner was cross-loaded. If you want to ensure the safety of your climber and add a new gadget to the rack, spend the extra couple $ and buy the BD magnetron gridlock!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great belay biner I bought this item out of curiosity but am completely satisfied and happy with the purchase. I use it as a belay/rappel biner exclusively as that is what it is designed for and what it works best for. The biner was much lighter than i expected despite the complex design. I replaced my older heavier auto-locking pear biner with this masterpiece. Not only am I more confident through improved safety, Im also now lighter than before! Magnetron technology works flawlessly and is very positive feeling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Innovation This is the first major innovation that biners have had in about the last decade. Like others, I was skeptical of this biner at first, but having this biner for about 6 months now, I can pretty well speak for it. The magnets have had no discernable difference since I bought it originally and the design itself is ingenius. If use it for its designed purpose (as a belay biner, you dont have to worry about it coming undone. The gridlock has a bit of a learning curve, but a good biner nonetheless.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Science, do my bidding! This magnetron autolocking gate is genius and I love it! I've encountered other autolocking biners that I've been known to just fiddle with and "accidentally" open when I'm bored. There's no casually grazing and opening this bad boy. Unfortunately that means I'm now less than graceful and timely trying to set up my grigri on this gridlock biner because it so quickly closes and locks me out of the other end. But it's new, I trust I'll get into a rhythm with it...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fast, 1 handed operation, perfect 4 belaying This carabiner is very difficult to open accidentally. But very easy to open with two fingers. Its unique shape minimizes the risk of cross loading. My only concern is the size of the gap between the spine and the gate (roughly 1/2 inch), so I can't use it on my tools or for tieing in to multi strand webbing anchors. With its light weight, small design, and oriented function, hope it will be perfect for my grigri. Going out tomorrow ...update to follow

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BD knows what's up This biner is perfect. Not only does it not cross-load but I feel secure in that it will not open on me. I mostly use it for belaying, but have also used it in challenge course settings to clip in climbers. I have seen auto-locking biners open because they rubbed against course equipment while the participant climbs. However, the megatron prevents that. ,,,,Additionally, it's universal for both lefties and righties! Just pinch the gate and push to open.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought the day it came out I love this Biner. I think its awesome that BD has pushed the envelope on Biner technology. ups is the auto locking mechanism. Many other auto locking Biners will jam if they get dirt in them but this one has held up really well even after getting dirty. The belay spur works perfectly. The only downside is taking it on and off. It is kind of a pain but that isnt a big deal at all.
