The Half Dome helmet is a cool looking, low-profile helmet that combines a rigid shell with a webbing suspension system. Without obscuring your vision, the sculpted shell offers maximum head coverage and protection. The suspension system offers great comfort and contributes to good ventilation because there is ample room for heat to escape. To fit a variety of different head sizes, a foam-padded crown strap is easily adjusted using a Velcro closure system. You can take the Half Dome climbing anywhere on rock or ice and you might make it halfway home before you realize you're still wearing it.
FEATURES of the Black Diamond Half Dome Helmet
Hybrid design with molded EPS foam, generous ventilation and highly adjustable suspension system
Suspension's custom wheel adjuster allows for improved fine-tuning of fit
Headlamp clips are the most secure headlamp attachments on the market

Lightweight helmet that is a bargain for the price.I bought this helmet about 2 years ago because it was a bargain price for such a great helmet. ,,,,I hit my head alot while climbing and it gives me that extra comfort while I am climbing multi-pitch. Protects me from loose rocks, like while climbing Castleton Tower on the Cor-Engales route. ,,,,Ventilation is not all that great but that was never an issue with me.,,,,Mine has stickers, dings, scraps and contour video mounts all over.,,,,I saw reviews saying it was hard to adjust to their heads, I guess I have a perfect melon because I have never had an issue getting a perfect fit.,,,,All in all it is a great helmet for the price, especially for an entry level climber.

A very comfortable, well-made helmet that will suit most non-hardcore individuals.PROS:
I've got to say that Moosejaw has some of the best customer service I have ever seen. I recently ordered the Black Diamond Half Dome Helmet for my caving exploits. I like the helmet a lot. It is padded well, and it is adjustable to fit properly on the head. The helmet works very well with headlamps. I purchased the Princeton Tec APEX from Moosejaw as well and it fit perfectly.
The helmet could stand to be a little stronger in my opinion. However, i'm happy with my purchase. It seems to be well made but flexes easily.
Another possible downside of this helmet is that even when properly adjusted I can remove the helmet with some effort. It could p

Awesome helmet with comfort and styleWhile I can't attest to the protective functions of this helmet, since it's a protective piece of equipment, and fortunately I have not had any accidents with the helmet thus far... It is a comfortable helmet that has an easy click wheel to adjust to the size of your head quickly and easily. Also allows you to put the thing on and adjust accordingly because of the click wheel adjustment. This helmet comes in a variety of colors so you can color code gear accordingly or have options to what color of helmet you'd like, as opposed to the standard white and gray that most helmets have.

A much needed upgrade on an older model.Let's face it- unless you had a very regular-shaped head, the old Half Dome sucked. I had one and I gave it away. That's how much I hated it. You see, I have what can only be described as a dorsal fin running the entire top of my head. The old Half Dome ate into it and was very uncomfortable- like farting at the inlaws' dinner table uncomfortable. The new one is lighter, super comfy, and much more functional. I've worn it watching TV for the hell of it. I have yet to actually bash my head in the thing, but I have a feeling it would perform beautifully.

Good All-rounderThis is the 2nd climbing helmet I’ve owned. It’s light and looks cool. Thankfully I’m yet to have been in a situation that tests what it was designed to do i.e. save my noggin but I think it's up to the task.
Though the helmet feels like it fits my melon perfectly I’ve been told it sits a little crooked when I’m wearing it. This could be a personal anatomical flaw on my behalf but is more likely to do with the bogus clip positioning sitting awkwardly near my jaw. This is my only complaint.
If you’re looking for a workhorse helmet to drag up countless big walls then this helmet is probably not for you. However if you want something light which servers a variety of uses (I use mi

Required EquipmentI have been using the Black Diamond Half Dome helmet for the past two years. It offers good protection, is light weight, comfortable, with plenty of air flow to stay cool in the heat of summer, and takes a beating. I occasionally bump my head on the rock as I make my way up the wall. The Half Dome shows very little signs of wear. It is still in service and meets my needs well. I purchased another Half Dome helmet as a Christmas gift for my daughter-in-law because I want her to have the same protection, comfort and durability while climbing.

Lightweight, Easily adjustable, doesnt breath very wellIts very light and very easily adjustable which I like a lot. Most days I can wear it all day and not realize I have it on. If its especially hot though I notice it because it doesn't breath all that well. Most of the time on those days I find myself climbing without a helmet. For the price the quality is pretty good but if you really want protection from anything but biners and small rocks falling the plastic shell isn't going to do it. Better than nothing for sure, but you really have to spend a little more for a great helmet.

rocks dont play well with skulls, unless halfdome is in the mixThis helmet has been protecting what IQ I have left, and does a great job of it. Fits well over beanie for cold ascents, or over a basebal cap for the hot summer days. Fits in a pack well, and is durable when being handed around the crag or even when getting biners dropped on your head from a not so competent climbing buddy. Or small rocks they kick on you do to your last mean comment. This helmet will protect you from all. Not so much floods or hurricanes but pretty much anything you could run of fall into while climbing.
