This headlamp is very small and light, the strap will not slip off of your head, and it includes a range of illumination levels, with the highest setting being very bright. That being said, it does not have a red light as stated, and it does not remember what setting it was on when turned off. You can use either the brighter single light, or the almost as bright double lights, and you can dim both to a lower setting by holding the button. Unfortunately, the settings just cycle each time you turn it back on. The button also got stuck in place in cold (30 degree) weather and was hard to operate, so I would prefer a sliding switch. I would recommend investing in a better headlamp.
I bought this as a backup headlamp. I like the brightness level on the highest setting. This headlamp is brighter than my petzl tikka plus 2. But the casing doesn't seem as strong.
I like the Black Diamond Cosmo head lamp a lot. I use it for hiking and backpacking. IF you do not own a head lamp buy one. Being able to work with both hands while not holding a mini flashlight in your mouth or the crink of your neck is awesome. I also own the Petzle Tikka 2 but the black diamond cosmo was a little cheaper for about the same features.
I am so happy I bought this headlamp. Gone are the days of fumbling in the dark to find a flashlight. The hands-free functionality of it is great. The tension fit is just right, and love the dimming function. My fiance was so jealous when he saw mine, I got the same one in grey for him. Thanks Moosejaw!
I bought two of these one for my husband and one for me. His was black. I liked the blue. Both are not gender specific. I liked the width of the elastic band. It is very stable and easy to adjust. Great for all kinds of uses. We are using ours for hiking/backpacking.
I got two of these. One for me and one for my husband they were bright even in the daytime (when we tried them on). The elastic is a good width so its not cutting off any circulation in your head and its mega comfortable. The button is a little hard sometime to push to get to the the setting you want but not a major problem. The light unit itself is adjustable too if you were reading or trying hard to see where you are going you can flip it point down more. All in all good product!
For the price I don't think you can beat this headlamp. It's easy to use, not too heavy and plenty bright. The baggage handlers at Midway airport seemed to really like it as well, which is why they stole it out of my bag on my way to Vegas.
I am in Iraq right now and bought this headlamp for while I am over here. I have others at home but I really like this one. It is bright, light, and seems to have good battery life. If you are looking for a nice, reliable headlamp look no further. My only complaint is that I normally like a top strapy thing to keep it from slipping down my face when I am moving around, but this one stays in place just fine.
I love this headlamp! It is very lightweight and gives off an amazingly bright light. Three light settings make it easy to use in different situations. It also has a strobe setting which I completely think is worthless. Other than that, this is a great buy from Moosejaw.
