"Super Reliable" 03/11/13

I've used these crampons on several winter summits in the White Mountains in NH (Kinsmans, Lafayette, Twins, Bonds) and they have not let me down. They secure very tightly to hiking boots as well as mountaineering boots. They easily adjust to accommodate both styles of boot. They've been helpful both above and below tree line on ice and snow.

"Pretty sweet crampons!" 01/07/13

I bought these over the summer on sale and finally got to use them over the weekend. This was the first time I ever used crampons. I was a little apprehensive about putting them on, but I got them on and adjusted before my fingers got too cold. They were extremely stable over ice and snow, and held up well over bare rock. I ran into a dude who was saying he was using his for the second time and that he even though he didn't use them too often, you just feel like a bad a$$ whenever you see them with your gear. Agreed.

"Fine crampon" 01/02/13

Another fine BD product. Well made works great and should last. Not for "hard core" winter ice climbs but great for anthing else.

"handled all the abuse - and misuse - I could give them" 08/05/11

Though I only recently purchased a pair, the Pacific NW’s record snowpack has given me plenty of opportunity to test them. I prefer low and light hiking shoes to boots, and to my delight, the Contacts were flexible enough that I didn’t have any problems wearing them over my shoes. Despite many opportunities to come off on 60° ice or 40° snow inclines, they stayed put. Also, I traversed a lot of mixed ice and rock terrain, but instead of removing and replacing my crampons ad nauseam, I scrambled over the rocks with the crampons on. Such idiocy should be expected to spell the end of any aluminum - or perhaps lesser steel - crampons, but my Contacts appear to have suffered no permanent damage.

"Well made and easy to use" 06/06/11

These crampons are worth the money if you are in need of a pair. They are well made, provide great stability on glaciers, and are easy to use. Self explanatory once you get them out of the box. You won't find a better pair for the money.

"Good for early season hiking" 12/31/10

I haven't used these a lot, but the hiking I've done in them has been great...have fit a couple of different sized boots and I've never lost traction while I was using them. Sharp enough to jam a hole in your boot if you aren't careful, but not so aggressive that they're horribly uncomfortable. Be careful if you wear boots larger than size 11 1/2...you might need the longer bar, I'm on the last hole on the ones that came with these crampons!

"Great starter crampon for non-technical hiking in late/early seasons" 10/27/10

This is a great crampon for those not looking to jump into technical climbing, but want something reliable for late/early season hiking. Took these up Mount Washington in late october and they performed flawlessly. Saw others coming back with lesser quality, and less rugged types. One guy actually broke and lost his cheap one on the ridgeline. These are stainless and claim not to rust, i hope so, but I havent had them that long yet. Solid BD. Works well with my leather Asolo backpacking boots, not mountaineering, and it doesnt look like they will destroy the boots, either.

"Awesome, flexible, more awesome." 05/22/10

Never rust, easy on/off, and people who don't do outdoors have no idea what they are but when you tell them they are "crampons", they seem to think they belong in a woman's bathroom cupboard. Overall, very bad-ass and they come with ABS plates already attached which is a nice touch.

"Best Value Crampon for General Glacial Travel" 04/14/10

I've had my Contacts for years, so I can't speak to the new steel used in this version, but I know the design is solid. I've used them all over the Cascades as well as in the Peruvian Andes last summer. The strap design is excellent for general glacier travel because it lets you put them on almost any set of footwear, whether it's lightweight boots for warm weather, or plastics for cold, high altitude climbing.
