This is a really good deal. You can save some money if you buy both of these items together. The color of both devices are really cool, I could not ask for anything more that what i order. I am a current student at a university learning the in's and out's of climbing. But if you want to have fun while climbing you much enjoy the hobbie
Bought this as a Christmas gift for myself and it has been serving me very well since. Very smooth when belaying someone, and if they fall it catches them immediately. The biner is very nice as well and it is pretty light. Overall a great buy and totally worth the extra few bucks compared to the Big Air Package.
I bought this about a year ago and I've used it about every weekend of the summers and it has held up like a champ. This is a very reliable ATC and you won't have any problems belaying someone with it.
Mine is actually blue and orange, but I do love it a ton. Use it for rappelling, top rope, and lead climb, and it works great. Catches lead climbers well. Your standard belay device and does not disappoint.
"Great manual belay device, like it more than the standard ATC"
Got this on sale at Moosejaw and it's ballin'. Used the standard ATC in the past, but I dig the high friction mode on the XP (I can belay my bud who ways 230 lbs with no problem). The biner is real light and super smooth as well. I would recommend this for anyone not wanting a solid manual belay device.
I can't stand belaying without the teeth anymore. I don't think i'll ever get a device that doesn't have teeth unless its an auto lock. This is also a very useful biner. I don't use much on for belaying any more because I have a grid lock but it still gets used a lot for other purposes.
Been using this systems for a while now (5 years) and they are very easy to use not to mention very affordable. 3rd kit I have bought till now (1 of them whore it down after 3 years and decided to replace, the 2nd one was stolen, now on my 3rd)
This package is really simple but reliable. the new atc belay is lighter and still can take a beating. I most use mine in the gym for sport climbing but works just as well out in the backcountry on long days. carabiner is nothing special but works just fine! Great for the price!
"I can't complain - and neither can my buddy."
I really like this ATC and it's really handy if you belay larger folks (mind you I'm all of 5'3" on a good day, so pretty much everyone is a larger folk to me). Just watch when you run the rope through it that it doesn't lock/catch itself...makes the ride down a little jolty for your buddy. Moosejaw gave me the heads up on this one - thanks!
