I'm kinda let down by this. There is enough light for inside a tent, but not much more than that. Definetely not a replacement for a coleman lantern

""Don't Leave Home Without It'" 		          04/14/09
Wheather its a power outage or month long expedition into the alps this is the lantern for you. Puts out a ton of light for how small it is. Also I love how it packs down and hangs from the roof of my tent with just a small clip. The lantern is made to take daily abuse and looks to last the long haul. A must have for all campers.

"Great Lantern" 		          02/25/09
This is an excellent lantern. I took it car camping with me and the family and it exceeded expectations. Its small and can pack away eaisly. It provides a good amount of light when it is set on a table; enough to eat, play cards and even read. also provides a good amount of light when inside my tent. But dont expect this put out as much light as a gas lantern it doesnt, but i didnt expect it to.

"A portable lighthouse!" 		          07/30/08
I got this using my moosejaw rewards points I had saved up and I'm pretty pleased with my selection. It is a very lightweight compact light that does it's job and conserves battery life very well. I really like the ease of changing batteries and the dimming function. Another great product from black diamond!

Best battery powered lantern that I have ever owned. Dimmer feature works wonderfully, an excellent innovation. Great range of brightness between the brightest and dimmest settings. Folding legs and retractable housing makes for great versatility.

Now I see the light. Iam blown away by the lighthouse shape, it looks cool and beats fumbling around in my tent for the friggin mag lite or realize the Petzl batts are cooked, all that...when its time to step outside.... yada.yada!

Super light weight and surprisingly bright, the porcupines wanted nothing to do with our salty hiking boots once they got a bright flash of this lantern in their beady little eyes.

I saw this in a Mag ad and was interested because I needed something just like this and was considering the Snow Peak, but I didn't want to use fuel. The thing is awesome! It fits into a Snow Peak 450 cup. You can use it with 4 AA batteries or get the recharger kit. It does as advertised, plus you can adjust the light as the switch acts as a dimmer too. This is really cool as you will save power and not throw out more light than you need.
