"Light, durable and easy to operate"  12/07/11

This is the only belay device I have had. I used it in various activities, sports climbing, trad climbing, mountaineering, mixed climbing, and ice climbing. It does belay and descending jobs very well even ropes are frozen.

"If you don't have this, you need to get it"  12/29/10

This is the best multipurpose, all-around, light belay device. I wouldn't go anywhere without it. Whether you are rapping, belaying, or multi-pitching, this device is for you.

"Great All around ATC that is worth every penny"  12/16/10

This is a VERY multifunctional piece of equipment that you need to have hanging off your rack. It pretty much does anything you need for belaying and rapping. Easy to set up and very long lasting.

"Must have belay device!"  12/08/10

This device works hard for you! A little big and bulky, but a perfect ALL AROUND BELAY DEVICE. You can lead climb in this and belay from the top due to the metal loop (with most others don't have). This is key to climbing anywhere else besides a gym. You can tell a big difference between the smooth and rough belay sides and I am 100% impressed with this product.

"I don't reccommend these."  12/07/10

Everyone has their opinion, and I personally don't like the guide. I think it feeds much less smoothly than the reverso and it tends to lock up when belaying. IMO save your money and buy the Reverso off the bat. besides my personal prefreance though, there is no reason you shouldn't buy this. it is a great product that works well, just try to get a feel for how well they work befor you buy one if you can

"does it all"  12/02/10

Best guide version out there. I think that this is more intuitive to use than the funky looking Petzl version. These last forever as well. I have a friend that has been using the same one since the great depression!People also tend to think that you know what you're doing when you carry this sucker around! In case you need an ego boost!

"for ATC - the best model. But the Petzl REverso is smoother"  11/21/10

If yiou are looking to buy a ATC device, this is the one you are looking for. It is worthy to spend a little more and buy the "guide" version, since you will have lots of features to take advantage of, such as belaying two people and auto blocking. However, its competitor, the PETZL Reverso stil feeds the ropes in a smoother way, we think.
