Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all-around sling Over time, this has become the predominant sling on my rack. I still have a few nylons, and a few scattered dyneema/spectra runners from other brands, but this is the only one I still buy. It's way more durable than the lighter weight cords out there like the ones from Mammut (they're awesome, but I can't afford them), and I still have some of these that still look great after several years of regular climbing. One nice feature that isn't included with all brands is that BD stamps the date of manufacture on their soft goods, so you can check to see if any slings have been sitting on your rack too long and need to be retired.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Supports all 200 lbs of me... I didnt trust this piece of equipment till today; though I still dont trust these things in the way i used it (only cuz i have a fear of heights) It worked perfectly... (Yes I still Climb) I was rappeling with a buddy of mine and for some reason he wanted to do a multi pitch rappel, a new experience to me. Half way down the wall I had to anchor up and hang from this runner, I had yet to truely test this item even though ive been using it for a while now. All I know is being 40-50 feet off the ground with nothing but this runner holding me to the wall made me worried, but it worked perfectly and i am now much more confident in this equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't leave home with out them. I absolutely love these runners. There strength is confidence inspiring and the selection of sized is perfect. I know there are other dyneema sewn runners which are a little thinner or a little lighter, but these 10mm runners have a great feel, with a flattened profile so it sits nicely in carabiners or around your shoulder. I suggest getting the 120cm lengths. You will have great flexibility. They can be doubled up, tripled up or quadrupled up giving a huge selection of lengths. I usually carry three or four of these over my shoulder when I ice climb. I use these to rest from after I place some protection. All the confidence in the world. Basically they weigh nothing, are super strong and p

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lightweight and strong! i use this for building my a anchor at the top of sport climbs. most people just use a pair of quickdraws but i actually like to build a nicely equalized anchor. i like the advantages i get over the traditional quickdraw method: 1) better equalization - most times with quickdraws, one is taking the weight and the other is serving as a backup, 2) less wear and tear - extends the life of the rope & biners since it is running on a larger radius biner, 3) a little safer, 4) more options - among other things, the runner can be used as trad protection (which i've actually needed once)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good workhorse runner I bought a couple of these for "extendable draws" and I think they're great. They may not be quite as skinny as those 8mm Mammut ones but they're thick enough that they don't seem quite as terrifying to hang from either. I don't think the "tighter weave" thing is bs either, the pattern is visibly tighter and seems to not get caught on things as easily. The only thing I like better about the mammut ones is that they're sewn with one end inside the other, so the bar-tacked area is a bit easier to slide through a biner or over webbing in a girth hitch. Still, I prefer this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my new slings Just got back from my first trip using the thin slings (after retiring my old 12mm dynema). The reduction in bulk and weight is really noticable. Especially rigged as Alpine Quickdraws. Love these! I couldn't convince myself to go with the mammut 8mm as it just looked TOO skinny and I'd read they might not be as durable as these 10's from BD. Wow they are great. Grandpappy would be freaked out by these thin slings but they are plenty strong, as long as you recognize they are completely static and use them appropriately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well slung These runners are so light you won't feel them on you; there's no excuse not to carry a few extras. They're strong and durable, but the edges catch on stuff and will eventually become fuzzy. Also, because they're very thin, they get twisted and caught on other stuff. Perfect for making alpine draws. I ordered several of these from the Moose and one of them arrived with a slight defect, with some pulling in the fabric. Probably a rare quality-control thing, but it's worth inspecting your gear when it arrives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compromise Black Diamond's 10mm Dynex slings offer more durability than the lighter Mammut Contact slings (8mm). Dyneema doesn't absorb water and doesn't stretch, the former property important for any wet application (runners lose about 50% of their strength when wet, not to mention the weight savings). More packable and lighter than nylon, dynex must be sewn and does not hold knots due to its low friction. Trade-offs I, and most alpine climbers, happily accept. Not your grand-daddy's slings.
