Read All 17 ReviewsThe Women's Primrose AL Harness by Black Diamond is a four-season all-arounder. Designed with a women-specific longer rise and waist-to-legs ratio, the Primrose AL has traditional buckles on the waist and leg loops that allow fit to be dialed in depending on activity and clothing layers. The padded leg loops and bullhorn-shaped waistbelt take the ache out of those hanging belays, and when it's your turn to lead, the four pressure-molded gear loops carry the entire rack comfortably. The Primrose AL also comes with detachable/adjustable rear risers and a 15 kn-rated haul loop for the trail line.

"A great harness!" 06/30/10
Got this as a gift for my girlfriend and she loves it. Not only does she like the color, but it fits comfortably as well and has all the basic features needed. Perfectly padded, gear loops keep gear in the right place, straps are easy to tighten and untighten, and handy clippable rear straps for when nature calls in the wilderness.
"Great Harness for price" 06/29/10
I just Bought this for my girl who started climbing a month ago or so and just loves it. She was extatic and had to use it that same day. Fits her well, even though she is at the smallest end of its size (XS) (24 inch waist....she is tiny). She feels very comfortable in it and for the price is worth getting out of the gym harnesses for a level of comfort and added security of a harness that she knows where it's been.
"Great Harness!" 06/20/10
This was my first harness that I got and I love it. It is extremely comfortable and user friendly. It is a trustworthy brand; I always can count on Black Diamond. My boyfriend even picks me up and carries me around by all the different handles normally used for gear.
"It's a comfortable, affordable, glad-I-made-my-brother-buy-it-for-me-for-Christmas kind of harness." 04/18/10
I started climbing last year and this is the first harness that I've owned. It's comfortable, easy to put on and of course is quite stylish. I often wear it when I'm done climbing just to make a fashion statement. I will agree with most other reviewers that sizing can be tricky, though. I was between sizes and opted for the larger size. If I don't lose any weight it will fit perfectly for many climbs to come. Bring on the Krispy Kremes.
"Great Product...Sizing Seems Off!" 02/21/10
I DO really like this harness, but was unsure about which size to get. I have 22.5 inch thighs (sigh)and a 27 inch waist. So, due to my leg size I was worried about getting the small because of the listed measurements. I ended up going with the medium and the waist is too loose and there is PLENTY of room for adjusting for leg size. So, lesson learned: if you're between two sizes, opt for the smaller one (esp if your situation is like mine) because there is plenty of slack for making the leg opening larger...and I can't tighten the waist anymore :(
"YUP, My girl loves this harness!" 01/08/10
Great Harness! Funny but her friend bought her the same one so I returned this one. She really likes it tough. It is very similar to the one I have for men. Super comfy and she can sit there and watch me flail on climbs in comfort.
"User friendly" 12/29/09
Girl friend thinks it is great. She is a beginner and loves it. Starting out its a great mind booster because all latches double back unlike the newer technology. Would purchase this if you are a beginner.
"Great Harness!" 12/01/09
This harness is great! It is very comfortable and I never really have problems with it twisting or riding up. I have had mine for about 4 years now and it is still working great and hasn't worn out at all!
"Great basic harness" 11/22/09
I bought this as an "extra", so I could bring friends to try climbing at the gym or outdoors. About 4 or 5 different ladies have worn it, and they all commented on how it was so much more comfortable than the gym harnesses (that have no padding), and how the comfort helped them focus on climbing more. What was surprising to me is that they all seemed fairly different sizes to me, yet it fit all of them (although some have have liked the leg loogs to go smaller). That said, I've read lots of reviews saying sizing can be difficult with these harnesses, and I would highly recommend being able to try one on & hang in it before committing.
"Good beginner's harness" 11/12/09
I've used this harness for about a year now. The adjustability is great, but the buckles on the leg loops slip even after I've double-backed. I don't think I have abnormally large thighs or anything. Also, I wish I had purchased a harness that had D-rings, so I don't have to double back all of the buckles. Overall, it's a comfortable and probably superior to many other harnesses.
