Equipped with a bright 80-meter beam for spotting anything nocturnal, fabulous or elusive, and there’s also some battery-saving ambient lighting for frenching Hottie McCutes in the dark. Or maybe not some of that. The Icon Headlamp by Black Diamond is for serious night owls. Its compact front housing holds the three-watt LED flanked by four SuperBright LEDs to produce either a night-piercing searchlight-up to 80 meters-or bright ambient lighting. The Icon's battery-power meter uses three colored indicator lights to intuitively display remaining battery power-green (50% or more), yellow (20% or more) and red (less than 20%). Battery-saving circuitry and a glove-friendly Positron switch enable you to access multiple brightness settings and strobe mode for both the three watt and the Superbright LEDs. "LOVE IT... my second Icon" |
02/04/10 |
| This is my second Icon. I bought my first one a few years back, and keep that one for farm use. Needed a second to take on rock collecting trips. The amount of light it throws is unbelievable. Amount of light is easy to adjust (6 brightness settings and a strobe). It certainly isn't the most compact headlamp, but it by far out-shines my smaller ultra-light backpacking lamp. The button control is easy to depress, and the battery indicator light gives adequate warning so you're not left in the dark. This is my "go-to" light when I need excellent visibility. It's great for caving, setting up camp at night, and even doing barn chores when the power goes down. This lamp has never let me down. | |

"Glorious Little lamp" |

| Love this headlamp. Use it as my secondary light for caving. Very bright, easy buttons, and not too heavy. Hard to find lamp that use AA batteries as most new lamps use AAA. I refuse to carrying multiple sizes of batteries so I hope this one sticks around for a while. Spot is great for things I want to get a better eye on | |

"Bad ASS" |

| Well, this light provides an immense amount of light. No joke. Hiking with this thing when its pitch black is glorious. And the spotlight is ridiculous. This light is amazing. 3 settings with LED's and 3 with spotlight helps make batteries last forever under various conditions. A little weighty on the back of the head but it is real stable so don't even worry about it. Get NRG system and save the land. | |

"Best Headlamp Ever" |

| With the batteries in the back it doesn’t make my forehead feel like it weighs an extra ten pounds. This light is really bright and with the easy y tap of the button it makes it very easy to change from super bright to dim. | |

"This headlamp is worth the $$" |
11/09/09 |
| Awesome headlamp. Just returned from Montana on a big game hunt. This headlamp was used every morning and evening for six day straight. The three lamp settings were used for various jobs. This lamp was put to the test on our fourth night, major rain as we walked out. Once back at camp and was drying equipment, the battery compartment had no signs of moisture or the lamp as well. Black Diamond Icon did it again. I recommend this headlamp to any serious outdoors man or women. | |

"If you need one this is it" |

| Solid headlamp, love the combo of leds and spotlight, it gives the headlamp great versatility. I work at a golf course and sometimes i find myself working late at night and use this headlamp to see my way around without any other light source. Just using aaa's now, but plan on buying the rechargeable pack. mad love -dh | |

"Bright" |
10/11/09 |
| For starters I have had headlamps in the past and they don't even compare to this. The setting with the side LEDS will flood a trail, campsite, etc with light. The focus beam throws light really far! I was shining it in a field that is 50-60 yards away and it was clearly lit. The battery pack is a bit heavy, but compared with my 10 year old headlamp w/out a battery pack, the difference in weight was negligible. $65 bucks may seem pricey, but after you use it you will understand. My neighbor says he wants one every time he stops by. | |

"Light weight lamp, but centre strap needs more adjustability" |
08/19/09 |
| The lamp is powerfull and shines further than most LED lamps. However center strap is not long enough when fitted to a helmet. I use it without the center strap, but needs a helmet that has a head lamp retainer. | |

"Not the cheapest, but worth the price" |
07/10/09 |
| Great headlamp. According to the user manual, can reach 100m with brand new batteries. That drops to 80m within 30min. The operating times stated online do not match those printed in the manual. 3W bulb will last 85hrs on brightest setting (145h on lowest), but only shines to 35m after 10hrs of use. The bright setting is VERY bright...good for night hikes, but smaller side lights are great for inside tents, etc. I LOVE the battery indicator lights and direct plug-in for battery charger. VERY comfortable. You will not regret this purchase! | |

"best all around headlamp ever" |
06/03/09 |
| spotlight is better than most flashlights. extremely durable, i use it at least 3 or 4 times a week turning it of and on for a couple hours at a time. just changed the batteries for the first time in 6 months (the batter indicator light is great). dropped it off buildings, thrown tools on it, gets wet and greasy. top strap helps it stay in place. i've bought two and getting ready to add another. one for the work truck, one for the play truck and one for the bedroom. dont let the battery pack scare you. if your neck cant support three AAA batteries then you shouldn't be doing stuff in the dark anyway. | |
