"Gaiters that keep you dry and look cool" 06/20/10
These gaiters are definitely my favorite piece of gear I own. Without them I would have suffered some terrible wet circumstances. I would make sure you know what size to get because at first I didn't. I use these gaiters with my La Sportiva Trango S EVO boots which are size 45. I use XL gaiters and they cover the boots well and provide a long length that go high up my leg. Although I have ripped mine after use, they still work to keep me dry. Black diamond seems to make great products all around.
"Good protection from ankle biting dogs" 12/15/07
Good protection for my pants and extra warmth for my ankles, but I prefer my gaiters to cover the majority of the laces on my boots for added warmth while breaking trail and protection from crampon snags, and the BD's just don't cut it.
"Sturdy and functional." 04/22/07
I bought these just before a spring trip to Isle Royale in Lake Superior. The trails were very muddy but my pants stayed spotless. Mud cleans up quickly and even after months of use they repel water very well. Very tough too.
"Simple, easy and effective." 12/30/06
Though they seem to be marketed for winter/ice use, I used my frontpoint gaiters almost exclusively for backpacking in New Zealand (gaiters are standard issue amongst trampers there due to tremendously wet/muddy trails). After 60 days on trail and repeated journeys through thigh-deep mud and river crossings, I was thoroughly impressed. These are simple, functional and effective gaiters. My only complaint is that i suffered one torn strap due to repeatedly walking on sharp rocks and roots (this was an easy repair with a little bit of parachute cord).

I'm a thin guy (6', 155 pds), but found that the large still worked for me, though an extra-large would have been too big. "Easy to put on, very rugged, and waterproof." 12/21/06
It's difficult to differntiate between many gaiters since they all usually serve the purpose. These were my second pair, much more rugged than the nylon gaiters I used previously. The balistic material and Gore-Tex will take a lot of abuse from thorns, rocks, and anything else the trail might throw at me while treking in the snow. These are very easy to put on, and they've met or exceeded my expectations while keeping me dry.
