Providing bright, close-range light, the Cosmo Headlamps by Black Diamond use a 1/2 watt LED beam for scrambling back to the car or nervously scanning the darkness to see what's making that “bear-like" noise. Switch to the two proximity LEDs for plenty of close-up ambient light for cooking in the vestibule or peeping under the bumper for your stashed car keys. Both lamps have eight different brightness settings (including strobe illumination) and two modes, allowing you to tailor your light intensity and conserve batteries-because sometimes your one-day push turns into a few. "This headlamp is great but not for ascents or trail hiking" 		          12/12/09
this is a nice headlamp over all. I haven't had any problems with it. The LEDs are nice and bright. but the spot light doesn't work all that well. it will suffice for close range but not something like night hiking or early morning ascents. I would recommend getting the black diamond spot headlamp because it has a 1/2 watt bigger bulb.

This is a great little headlamp that has fallen many times only for me to pick it back up or put it back together. I wish it was brighter but I guess it provides significant light for its size. Next time I buy a headlamp I think I will get a more powerful one. This headlamp works well for around camp and in a tent but I would recommend a stronger one for more intense activities.

"Convienent little light" 		          09/09/09
She won't light up the night like a light house off the coast...but in a tent she's a quick fix for reading, getting your gear ready for the A.M. push to the summit, or cooking a late night snack. Lasts a long time and won't saves the big dog for the trail only. My mum buys the best presents! Thanks mom!

"LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT" 		          07/18/09
I use this thing camping, running, when the electricity goes out. It falls, gets thrown in the bottom of packs, and knocked around with water bottles. The two different focuses are great when running and biking at night. It is durable and keeps me going in the right direction.

I love this head lamp. I went camping with my girl and thank god I had my head lamp because hers was super weak and ended up dying. She couldn't believe how much light it provided. We used it as our light all weekend long in the dark deep woods. My boyfriend wears it when his foreheads all sweaty and it's not dirty or smelly in the least. I'm going camping in Cali and can't wait to use it!!!!

I have used this thing from night ascents up mountains to reading a book, to TCB while the power is out. This holds up well. I have not abused it terribly but it has taken the occasional drop. Good battery life.

Have had two of these, BD replaced my first one after hard use destroyed it. Second one has a loose piece from use. Overall a great light, didn't take on all my punishment. That said the batteries last forever with this thing and will provide hours and hours of light, even if low light, never leaving you in the dark. Stood up to damp weather and rain very well...

I like this headlamp, it's bright and good on battery life so long as you utilize the LEDs for the majority of your use. Both the xenon and LEDs are pretty damn bright. The functions are a bit funny but you get the grip of it after a little bit of playing with it. I recommend.

It's hard to imagine a more functional headlamp than the BD Cosmo. With first use, I was impressed by the brightness of the LED lights, and in particular the two primary modes, a large LED spotlight or two accessory LED lights that create a wider lighting spread. The light portion can articulate and angle down towards the ground, which enables the user to adjust the lighting direction to their own comfort. That said, I was very confused by the multi-function controls - supposedly this has more than just two light modes, but I was never able to figure out how to push the single front facing button to get them to work. Granted, I'm too lazy to read the supplied manual and if I ever found
