ALL CLIMBING SALES ARE FINAL. The ATC-XP Friction Device by Black Diamond maintains the silky-smooth feeding of the ATC but ups the braking power. For belaying and rappelling with 7.7-11 mm ropes, it's designed with a smooth, low-friction side and a high-friction side with v-shaped grooves for three times more friction. An extended central web keeps biners and ropes properly oriented and helps reduce kinking. FEATURES of the ATC-XP by Black Diamond

"Like it A lot" |

| Ok, so its an ATC. Wow, we all know that....... but it really is one of the best out there. The V notch is great if your rappelling and need to lock yourself off for awhile to clean gear or just check things out. I use this all the time for cleaning routes and such! | |

"Good starter device" |

| Does its job when you just want a cheap belay device. Teeth hold the rope well enough. | |

"The advanced standard" |
11/26/09 |
| This ATC device is the standard with a helpful bit of extra where it has the ability to make the belayers job a bit easier by adding a little more slowing friction toward the moving rope. | |

"Sturdy, easy catch" |

| First of all mine looks nothing like this, the device is all gold which is pretty cool. Used this with a 9.7 mm and it held great. If you want to make your life easier and aren't gonna do multi-pitch and aren't willing to drop a bunch for a grigri or your rope is too small, this is definitely the way to go. | |

"Good stuff" |

| A step up from the basic BD ATC gives you the option of higher friction for belaying heavier climbers and catching frequent falls. But you've still got a standard friction side for smoother belaying and rappelling on single or twin rope when needed. | |

"Solid buy" |

| Great buy if you plan to belay and repel. I'm only 145lbs and can easily hold a 250lb climber taking a good whipper. If you don't plan to repel though I'd fork out the cash for a Grigri. | |

"nice product, works great" |

| works just great. I like how you can switch between a higher grip (toothed side) mode or a lower friction mode. | |

"It's grrrreeeaattt!!!!" |
05/26/09 |
| It works well, I did have trouble pulling through on the high friction side while top-roping but it will catch a fall with ease. Plus I got allot of eeewww's and ahhhhh's. It's a looker, like me. | |

"This is a BEAST!!" |

| I love this ATC!! The teeth are amazing & makes it so much easier on the belayer. This has got to be the best ATC i've used to date. Mine doesn't look like the one in the picture though. Instead of the silver & orange look, mine is maroon & the loop is black. I actually like it better though so no complaining here! Seriously though, your search for a high quality ATC is over. Buy this bad boy!!!! | |

"Excellent belay device" |
05/03/09 |
| I've owned many of the "tube" style belay devices and this is my favorite. Feeds smoothly and easily. This one was purchased to replace a Petzl Reverso which was difficult to feed rope through, especially for lead belaying. The ATC-XP is also great for thinner ropes (we have a 9.2 mm) when you use the teeth on the brake side. | |

"Great for little belayers!" |

| I love using this ATC-I'm pretty small so the people I climb with can get up to 100 lbs more than me-and the friction works greater when lowering people or when someone takes a fall. | |
