"Better friction compared to the reverso" |
01/27/10 |
| Great for belaying heavier climbers. The high friction teeth grab well on to the bigger gym ropes (10mm+) and keep your hand from tiring with a hang dog. | |

"Buy one. Extremely durable, lightweight and can be used in many different ways." |
01/22/10 |
| As far as belays go, this is one of the best. Only about $35.00, the ATC-Guide will last for many years. Its fairly simple to use and can withstand some pretty harsh environments and treatment. This belay can accommodate any type of rope from 7mm-13mm. The only other belay out there that comes close to this ones abilities is the Petzl Reverso 3. However, it is a little bigger, more awkward to use but some people like it more? | |

"Great for what it is meant to do" |

| Love this thing for multi pitch. You can clip the open hole and run your belay right off the anchor. When you run it like that it makes life just a little easier! | |

| Way better than a gri-gri. This belay device (along with my rope and harness) has saved my life on many occasions already. | |

"Awesome" |
12/05/09 |
| The BD ATC-Guide is great, not much different than the regular ATC. But it's nice to have some variety in types of belay devices. The only that is annoying is the color, just because it blends in so well with the rocks. Would recommend. | |

"excellent do anything atc" |
12/01/09 |
| this atc works great!! the high friction side makes it super easy to catch a climbing if they fall while climbing and the low friction side makes rappel very easy. having the anchor loop is nice since i can use it on multi-pitch climbs if i want without needing addition gear. | |

"Great device for outdoor adventures, but so is reverso 3" |
10/28/09 |
| When shopping for a device it was between this and the reverso 3. After researching both the only difference is in weight (this is heavier), the reverso can take a carabiner in both holes (thats what she said), and and price (if you are poor this is cheaper). If you are a gym climber skip this device...you are better off with one of the other ATC's to suit your needs. The atc guide is sick, but you don't need to spend money on a rig you arent going to actively use. | |

| Love it. Works much better than the ATC's I started on. Stay away from some of the thicker ropes! | |

"Good device, lots of options, but probably can save a few $$$ by using other devices" |
09/17/09 |
| If I had it to do over again, I would probably have purchased some of the cheaper devices with similar functionality. Don't get me wrong, I like the device, especially the high friction concept, which really works. My 130 lb wife can belay me at 240 lbs, no problem. However, there are other high friction devices, that just don't support the guide mode if you need to save a few bucks. Plus, you really need to know what you are doing if you are going to put it in guide mode, because if you don't, someone could really get hurt. That being said, the guide mode hole makes a nice spot to clip the device to my harness for storage. | |
