"Great --always carry it" 		          12/05/09
Although I often use the Grigri, it's always nice to have this one on your gear loop for easy rappelling. I would use the Guide if you're belaying someone a bit heavier than you. But otherwise, very simple, very durable, great buy. Would recommend.

"A must have item in ANYONES kit!" 		          11/01/09
I own two ATCs now. One for rope access at work (Lighting rigger) and the other for recreational climbing. It is my go-to belay/rappel device, always hanging on my harness. Single or twin rope, no problem. The ATC is particularly smooth to use on ropes in the 10 to 10.5mm region, where similar devices (like the Reverso) are a bit of a struggle. It does, however, go pretty quick if you're on thinner lines.

"Can't go wrong" 		          09/25/09
I've used this for years for both belay and rappel(sp). I've used ropes of sizes 10, 10.2, and 10.5 dry and treated and it does fine with all of them. The inner paint does wear off after a few ringers, but it's only because the rope with sand is like sandpaper, nothing can widthstand that pressure and heat.
