The Big Agnes Slater UL 1+ Tent is a solo tent for the backpacker requiring a touch of extra warmth while keeping weight down. The 2lb, 4oz trail weight allows you to pack up and get on the trail without driving your back and shoulders bonkers with weight, while a full nylon rip-stop tent body keeps out sand in desert situations and adds warmth on cooler nights. The single door can be closed two ways, mesh door for a breeze or fully closed with the polyester layer. Fast to pitch and a large vestibule for storing gear on wet nights.

Well balanced tent in term of weight and protection from the elementsAfter backpacking with the REI Quarter Dome T2 to Mount Whitney, I knew I need a lighter tent. Was planning to get the Big Agnes Fly Creek UL1 but space seem tight and too much mesh where dirt/sand can fly in (not a good thing when you are sleeping). Big Agnes took the design of the Fly Creek and created Slater, weights a little more but with more space and door can be mesh or full cover with a second zipper. For Labor Day weekend, I took it to Mount Lassen Volcanic backpacking and I was able to fit comfortable inside (I'm 5'7) with my backpack and gears inside. Super easy to setup and take down.
