"This is the sleeping pad you NEED! Keeps the cold hard ground away so you can saw some logs!"
This is my second one of these and it is unbelievably comfortable even when the ground is colder that a witch's tickle! (Let's keep it PG) The sides are a little taller so you kinda nestle into it and you can adjust the firmeness by letting out a little air. It fills up in just a few breaths ( chew some gum just before inflating so when you deflate it you don't gross everyone out with dragon breath). We live and hike in the Pacific NorthWest so even in summer we find ourselves sleeping on colder ground. This is worth the money and if you get it from MosseJaw you will save big money! Trust me, my first one was from some other place that shall not be named (rhymes with Blamazon) and I spent ALOT more for it! One bit of advice, roll all the air out and then do it one more time to get it into the most compact form. Enjoy! Clark Family Adventure Tours OUT! (Its not a real thing, its just what we call ourselves because we are bad azz camping machines!) Should I use all 1000 characters? maybe
My wife and I each used one of these on our winter camping trip in Glacier National Park at the end of February 2014. They did a great job of insulating us against the snow (my back never got cold) and they packed down to a relatively small size. This pad is a little larger than the NeoAir X-Therm, but we tried both pads at a local outdoor store and this pad was definitely more comfortable and also didn't crinkle when shifting around on it. If you don't mind a little extra weight in your pack and a little extra size, these provide a little bit of backcountry luxury.
I'm a late bloomer to the backpacking world. I always thought sleeping pads were those flimsy ones you see tied on everybody's backpacks on tv. When I decided to take up backpacking as a new hobby, my friend said this is the first thing I should buy. Bought this and didn't look back. It does take a while to blow it up, but your efforts are rewarded. This pad is so comfortable and is great for side sleepers.
Always liked the BA air pads since I'm a side sleeper and previously I had been using the old style vertical air tube BA pad. Never had a problem with my old pad just needed something new with some insulation in it for the shoulder months. Once i blew this baby up and tested it out i knew it was for me! This sucker is the most comfortable pad i have ever used and i wouldn't trade it for anything at this moment, I'm sure next year something even better will come out but for now this is my go to pad. Rock on BA!
I love this pad. I have it paired with a Big Agnes Roxy Ann, and together they are super comfortable. The pad is a tiny bit of a pain to blow up, but the results are well worth the effort. The "boxes" of air are waayyyy better than any previous "tube-type" design. I always felt I was rolling off the old ones...but not with this one. I haven't used this in cold weather, so can't speak to that part of it, but do know it's perfect for my warm-weather outings.
This mattress fits into the sleeve of my Big Agnes bag and makes it SO comfortable to camp! I can flip around as often as I want (star gazing or critter watch) and never fall off! The I-beam construction makes it feel supported yet not as if you were lying on top of a balloon. We inflate with an air pump, but I've blown it up orally and it was up and set in minutes. Packs down teeny tiny too (important when trying to shove it all into my pack). The dual material choice gives the option of "keep me warm" on one side or "keep me cool" on the other. you CAN tell the difference. Love this product. Bought long though our bags are regular, just to have the option of sleeping outstretched.
"I don't think there's a better pad out there"
I love sleeping on this pad! It's extra thick and works well for the bigger guys like myself. Not only is it really comfortable, but it also keeps me warm on the colder nights by adding a layer between me and the ground. It even fits perfectly with the Big Agnes sleeping bag I already have.I wouldn't spend one night without it!
This pad was very comfortable to sleep on. I sleep on my side and this pad kept my hips & shoulders off the ground. I have back problems, and sleeping on the ground or on 1.5 inch mats simply hurt my back. This mattress did not. I woke up as if I slept on my bed at home. I would highly recommend getting the 25 inch wide pad, if you roll around a lot in your sleep. It is very light & takes up little space in your backpack. On the down side, the pad did not keep me warm at 26F. My back & side were cold all night. There was no snow on the ground & I was in a tent with a waterproof floor. I have reservations calling this a 3 season pad. It did not seem very "insulated" to me.
"if you roll at all, get this sleeping pad"
not only do i love the warmth and protection from the ground that this pad gives, but i use to roll or slide off my other style air pads. this has raised rails that keep you on the pad all night and letting alittle air out makes it so comfy! you will love camping with this thing under you!
"Like sleeping on a cloud... that makes fart sounds on occasion"
Wonderful pad. I have been using the Thermarest prolite for the last few years and loved it, but when it was time to replace I decided to go Q-Core and I'm glad I did. the difference is amazing. It insulates so well I found myself hot sleeping on partially snow covered ground. it was so thick it was like I had hiked in with an air mattress. the shape and design is also perfect because unlike the single stitch pattern you dont feel like your on a pool float. the only thing is it takes a hot minute to inflate so it can get a little old. but the big agnes pump house solves that issue right up and you get a nice little pillow which is cool too.
This sleeping pad is quite possibly the best sleeping pad I've ever had. It's super comfortable to lay on and it holds it's air really well. On top of all of that, it packs up incredibly small when deflated. The only downside to this pad is the amount of air it takes to inflate it. I have the large version of this pad. Curse my large stature. Anyway, after inflating it for the first time by mouth, I nearly passed out from exhaustion/lack of oxygen. Be warned! Take your time when inflating this manually.....for the sake of your health!
