The Big Agnes Fly Creek UL 3 Tent is a three person tent for the ultralight backpacker that hits the trail with a group. The tent was built to provide a more spacious option without taking up tons of space in your pack, so you can move through the trail faster. The freestanding tent creates 39 square feet of floor room lets yourself and a friend or two dream through the night. The hubbed poles connect to the tent body via DAC Twist Clips, and the large end of the tent opens up a wide D-shaped door for easy entry/exit at any time, day or night. The 1200mm waterproof coating on the floor and rain fly deter a light rain to heavy downpour. A vestibule area of 12.5 square feet is created when the rain fly is in use, keeping shoes, pack, and other gear dry as well. On the trips that just can't get fast and light enough, leave the tent body at home, packing along only the poles, fly, and footprint (sold separately) for a fast fly shelter.

Love this tentThis is my second backpacking tent with the other being a Mountain Hardwear Viperine. This tent is very easy to set up, very light, and quality in rainstorms. This tent feels like the material would wear out faster than the Mountain Hardwear but due to the weight this has been my choice for backpacking trips to Yosemite, Grand Tetons, Boundary Waters Canoe Area and the like. I would say that the 3 man tent is about ideal for a couple but definitely not 3. There is plenty of length in here (I'm 6'2" and use a long bag) but it really isn't too wide. Would buy again.

Uber light-weightI had a Mountain Hardwear Lightwedge 3 tent. It was awesome...7 years ago. it still is a good tent, but it's heavy. I wanted something lighter, and something that had better waterproofing. My other tent completely lost it's ability to repel water. Last time i used it, I woke up with the bottom of the tent completely soaked. The material of this tent is incredibly light and then, so we will see how well it holds up to the elements and brushing up against rocks. At only 3lb 11 oz, you really cannot beat it. You do not have to get the footprint, but I highly recommend it. It is just one more layer you can put between the bottom of the tent and the ground. Plus it will make it that much more difficult to puncture the bottom of the tent.

good spacious tent for weightYou can't find a lighter well made tent with this amount of space. When looking for tents we wanted something with enough room with 2+ people and our dog. We compared a lot of tents including the msr hubba series, the copper spur Big agnes series, and the slater 2+ by big agnes. We ended up finding this fly creek 3 on sale so we took the plunge. It's relatively easy to set up as long as you know the door is the taller side. The whole thing packs nice and small and is very light compared to our old 3 person tent (which was around 6 lbs - this one is half that at 3lbs trail weight. It seems very sturdy and we haven't had any problems with it yet (but it is still very new). ,,,,We were originally mostly looking at 2 vestibule tents but realized that this 3 person gave you more room inside the tent and was less weight than 2 person 2 vestibule options - and 3 person 2 vestibule options just seem to weigh too much. ,,,,All in all - sweet tent, nice and light, sturdy, and spacious!

Shockingly Good PerformanceI've owned the Fly Creek UL 3 for three years and every day I am shocked by its level of performance. I'm an outdoor educator based primarily in the Southwest, and I live in my Fly Creek nine months out of twelve.
The tent (and optional groundsheet) has proven shockingly durable to abrasion from rocks and sticks, particularly in Joshua Tree National Park, which has very abrasive granite. Neither the tent nor the fly show any significant signs of wear and tear. I am also very careful about setting it up (never pull the delicate mesh swivel clip up to the pole last, always first or second), and I always use the optional groundsheet in addition to a plastic/foil space blanket, which preserves the tent floor.
Despite recently camping in over two inches of water, I have never gotten wet inside the Fly Creek. My other tent is a Hilleberg Akto 1P, so I was initially skeptical of the Fly Creek's waterproofness, but have been pleasantly surprised.
That is not to say this tent is perfect—no tent is without flaws. Aside from its extremely delicate fabric, the Fly Creek's biggest problem is the fact that the fly fabric sags significantly when wet. Enough to soak through the tent walls if the guylines and the tent clips aren't tightened carefully as the fly sags. This process must be reversed as the fly dries out, or else the fly will end up dangerously taut. Also when wet, the zipper flap over the door drips water straight down into the tent when the fly door is opened. All things considered, still excellent performance for an ultralight tent.
Finally, to answer the most pressing question: yes, the Fly Creek UL 3 can, in fact, sleep three people. It is neither comfortable nor fun, but that's not why people buy ultralight shelters. Extra gear can be stuffed up in the gap between the fly and tent body on the side of the tent.
In short, the Fly Creek UL 3 is everything promised and more. I highly recommend it.
