The Big Agnes Cross Mountain 45 Degree Sleeping Bag is a summer sleeping bag for comfort in the backcountry. The Cross Mountain is packed with Integrity synthetic insulation, ready to perform, even if wet. The shell is a nylon ripstop with water repellent treatment to deter water and the nylon lining on the inside is soft and breathable for a cozy slumber. The rectangular shape means lots of space for rollers with an integrated pad sleeve, so your sleeping pad stays with you throughout the night. The pillow pocket readily accepts Big Agnes pillows, or tuck in your fleece jacket for propping up your head. The bright orange color makes it easily found after a pesky porcupine drags it from your tent. I bet the chances of that happening are super low.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from How come Big Agnes was the first to figure out this system? If you haven't already looked at them, Big Agnes is pretty cool. They figured out that the insulation on the bottom of a conventional bag doesn't actually do you much good because you're lying on it and compressing it down. So they yanked it out and replaced it with a big pocket for an inflatable pad, duh! So now what we've got here is an actual system. We bought four of these 45-degree Cross Mountains (we've got two little kids) for undemanding warm summer use, and the pads to go with them, of course. We've been using them for a couple of years and we're really happy with them, and now that we're doing some colder-weather camping (spring and fall in addition to summer) we'll get some lower-rated bags and use them with the pads we already have. I love systems that let you swap pieces around.,,,,One thing: I think the pillow pockets could stand to be a bit bigger, but that's not really much of a thing.,,
