"Great traction, even when wet; great stability, run a little large"
After only breaking these in for a total of about 30 minutes, I took these out on the Ouachita Vista Trail, the 8 mile trek, Joplin to Hickory Nut Mtn. The terrain varies...dirt, weeds, sharp rocks, rolling rocks, some moderate steep inclines/declines, a few streams to cross, so with that said, these boots remained comfortable, stable and had great traction, even when wet. I never felt sharp rocks under me (can't say the same for my other hiking boots). I wore sock liners with some regular ole cotton socks (the later not a great choice, I know), and I had no blisters, though I did have some "friction burns" on my heels. Not bad for barely breaking them in and making bad sock choices! These get two thumbs up from me.
"Solid, comfortable, lightweight, and they look good!"
I got my pair on Asolo Bullet GTX boots after a ton of research. I live in a remote area and I have to order gear online (with mixed results) - so I appreciate a good review. My Bullet boots have really impressed me. I have big feet for a lady - wide and long - so I ordered a size 10 to avoid hitting the front of the boot with my toes. They fit perfectly! I wear a couple pairs of big socks and I'm supported nicely. The high rise on the ankle gives me a ton of support and balance. I am hiking farther faster with these boots!I've been over a variety of surfaces - hard packed rock, river boulders, sponge-like tundra, hopping over streams, and scrambling up wet grass. I haven't rolled an ankle, felt a sharp rock through the sole, or had any water work through to my socks yet!Super satisfied. These boots are tough and solid, yet quite affordable and lightweight. I'm really at the beginning of my hiking/backpacking journey and these boots are gonna serve me well for years to come.
"A very well built, slightly heavy hiking boot."
A little stiff right out of the box, and would probably only suit someone with a slightly wide foot and toe box. Definitely runs slightly large. The build quality is excellent and the footbed is very supportive. Nice that the boot comes a little higher above the ankle. I'm looking forward to road testing these.
