"Good boots if you need heavy duty ankle support"  03/11/12

Asolo is just a great brand hands down. I bought these for backpacking in alaska. I was carrying a ridiculously heavy pack and these served me well. However you don't need heavy duty boots like these unless you are doing some epic hikes. for anything on a trail these would be overkill.

"I'm in love with these boots"  01/18/12

I purchased these boots four years ago for a 45-day backpacking trip. They performed marvelously across every terrain type encountered: tundra, tussocks, river beds, bushwhacking, errthang! I did not break them in as much as I probably should have prior to the trip; however, I never got nasty blisters. Four other women on my trip also had these boots: we are obsessed with them. The one problem encountered by anyone was that one of the lace grommets toward the front of the boot popped out (but out of 5 pairs of these, and that was the only issue? Pretty neat!). I have since worn these boots on a number of multi-day backpacking trips, and have never had an issue.

"My new favourite way to cover my feet."  05/09/11

Can't say enough how awesome these boots are. They took about 30 km worth of hiking to break them in with a few pressure points and blisters, but now they are perfect. Your feet stay nice and warm (even when you are standing in a creek for a few minutes...which you can do since they are 100% waterproof) and the cushioning and support are superb with a heavy pack on. Quite good grip on ice/snow and slippery rocks. The leather and Goretex won't breathe though, so get a decent pair of socks to help compensate.

"Wife Got Jealous"  01/24/11

I picked up a pair of the Men's Asolo's for myself to replace some long worn boots and my wife got jealous. I picked these up for her for Christmas and she was thrilled. They fit phenomenally out of the box and are even better once they are broken in. They ar a little stiff new, but provide a lot of support and are the best out there we've found.

"best bomb proof boots"  01/18/11

these are the best boots I have owned, and I go through a lot of boots. I usually boots wear out in a year when the soles are completely flattened and holes come in through the sides because I hike on too much limestone off trail. So far these boots have held up extremely well. The soles are stiff enough to provide tons of support on questionable scree slopes, but I never get any blisters and had minimal break in time. Completely waterproof when going through streams, but yet my feet have never been too hot due to absorbent lining. Also, its good to know with these boots that when I do eliminate the tread on these boots I can get them resoled.

"I love these boots!"  10/27/10

I did a 14-miler in them pretty much straight out of the box- couldn't be happier. There are a little on the heavy side, but otherwise like hiking on clouds. I found them to be true to size, although other Asolo shoes I have run a little large. I also have super-high arches, and I find that they have good arch support.

"Pretty good boots... but hard to break in."  09/22/10

These boots are constructed really well... the materials are great and they seem to be holding together nicely! Only problem: the full-grain leather is more stiff than I like, and I've been having a hard time breaking them in. I have problems with my Achilles tendons, and I've found that the stiff boots actually aggravate the problem for me. I enjoy taking these boots out for short day hikes, but longer ones are a too harsh for me in them. I recommend trying them on in a store first before buying them online.

"Boots to trek the world!"  07/22/08

I purchased these boots in 2004 when preparing for a trip to Belgium. These Asolo boots have served me well and are still going. It did take a couple of weeks of wearing them every day to break them in, but now they are the most comfortable boots that I own. I can be tough on shoes & these boot really take a beating. I did two tours of Belgium, and both times I wore these boots for more than 80% of the journey. They offer great ankle support which is a good thing because I am known to be a klutz . My feet kept dry even in rainy/wet conditions. At home in New England, I use these boots on snow days, and the traction is superior. I also have a pair of Merrell boots which are similar to

"Sturdy shoes."  07/10/08

I bought these boots to wear not only hiking, but also as sturdy work boots for building trails, construction, etc. They have stood by me very well in both capacities. Very supportive and well built, they will withstand pretty much anything you throw at them. Great for hiking in any sort of wet or rough terrain. Perhaps not as comfortable as, say running shoes or light hikers, but they'll protect your feet and get you where you need to go.

"Buy it"  03/30/08

I'm taking these to Alaska with me for a NOLS course. They're super comfy and really heavy duty. They run about a half a size big so I got an 8 instead of my usual 8 1/2.
