My friend, who happens to be a fairly reputable duck, told me these boots have great support, that they're waterproof and breathable and all the mallards in the pond have been whipping 'em at the fountain.

walking on waterthese boots have gotten me through so much and they are still in absolutely great shape. They are very durable, warm, and yet breathable for all hiking conditions. When i was deciding what hiking boots to get i was told that these are a great choice for backpacking due to their firm support and great arches for my feet. All true, the one tiney complaint that i have is when it is really sunny out the black toe protectors at the end of the boot heat up tremendously making my toes actually really hot at one point. Other than that minor detail these boots are fantastic in every way and will even get you safely though christmas in july if you see rain or shine then:)

Definitely should get you a pair...of these! My only regret is that I didn't get them sooner! I purchased these in preparation for the Afghanistan winter. So far so good. They have held up magnificently in the mud, rain & cold. The snow hasn't quite reached me yet. There really wasn't much of a break in time. I went on a full kit march the second day of owning them without regret...not one blister. They are rigid enough to provide ankle support yet not so stiff as to feel as though you are wearing ski boots. They don't go up crazy high up the ankle. The colors are subdued enough to blend in uniform (minus the asolo logo in yellow). These were a fantastic purchase & am now sold on this brand...and on Moosejaw.

Not for everyone. This boot has a lot of good things about it: it's sturdy, waterproof, has good ankle support and a great lacing system. But at the end of a day of backpacking 10-15 miles with a 40lb pack, my feet just killed. I tried them 5-6 times on the trail, and couldn't get them to break in to the point that I wasn't constantly thinking about how bad my feet hurt. There is very little to no cushioning in the sole, even with aftermarket inserts, and blisters were often a problem on steep trails, even with multiple different techniques of tying them. While they work for a lot of folks, they're definitely not for everyone, so I'd recommend trying them on locally before taking the plunge.

GREAT COMFORTABLE BOOTSI purchased these boots for a trip to South America and they performed with flying colors. I wore them almost everyday and they were incredibly comfortable. They really made my heart happy the 4 days I was on the Inca Trail... I did not have 1 blister.... I swear! The fit is true to size... I wear a woman's 7 and there was perfect spacing around the toes and adequate room for wool socks. They didn't feel heavy either nor made my feet too hot. The waterproofing is great and the ankle support is ideal. If your feet are happy then you will be happy! My boots will be joining me in a couple months on the Appalachian Trail and I am confident they will be around for many more adventures.

best boots I've ever ownedI bought these boots after disappointments with many other brands. Picked them up before heading out for fieldwork and was impressed at the lack of break-in time. Fit my feet like a glove, didn't rub on the backs of my ankles like other boots had, stayed waterproof, and withstood 5 solid months of abuse. Sadly, they only stood up to my punishment for one season and part of the second, but I still think of them fondly. Goodness: fit really well, minimal break-in time, waterproof, tough, dried quickly, good amount of fabric/padding in ankle and tongue, stylish as all get out. Notsogoodness: those pesky round laces always coming undone, don't last quite as long as full leather boots

Great boots, great support!I have to admit I had my qualms when it came to buying a pair of hiking boots, especially for a four day trip. My feet get sore very easily and blister even easier. I first bought a pair of Vasque Breeze boots, but ended up returning them after they hurt my ankles and made my pinky toes start to blister after a few hours of trying to break them. I settled on the Stynger, because I heard the brand was one of the best. Over the course of forty miles, I did not get one blister. Not to mention the ankle support prevented several ankle rolls from turning into bad sprained ankles when walking over tricky tree roots and rock shelves. Make the investment and get these boots if you need a pair!

Pretty much my favorite posession.I purchased these boots last April 2008 right before beginning field work in the mountains of West Virginia... let me just say that they are 99.97% amazing. Not only were they comfortable from the very beginning and required very little break-in time dude... I never got blisters!, my feet were so stylish that they were the envy of all my crewmates. They have a wonderful firm sole, which makes them great for hiking on various types of terrain. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars 5 jaws? is because they are not waterproof, and walking through tall, wet grass left me with soggy feet pretty much every day. However, they did dry very quickly and at least I began each day with dry feet,

Excellent backpacking boot for wet, rocky & rough terrain! On their first outing, the Asolo Stynger boots stayed dry after multiple river crossings, sloshing through miles of marshy fields and being completely immersed in water 1â below the top of the shoe. The shoes are stiff/strong enough to kick into coarse, gravelly rocks on slopes w/o causing foot injuries/discomfort, the lacing system stays put without slipping, the sole offered very secure grip, even on wet, odd-shaped rocks and are relatively lightweight. They run narrow in the toe, so if you wear ww get 1/2 a size up. They are pricey, but well worth the money since they last longer. Iâve gone through reputable brands in 3-5 trips and so far, the Asolos are holding up strong after 10+ trips.
