I picked these boots up for cheap but I would definitely go back and pay full price and I might even do that once these are done. Super waterproof and they look cool enough to wear around town. I would think if you are carrying 40-50 pounds on your back, you might want a heavier pair of boots.
These boots are great. I haven't taken them off since I bought them two months ago. I combined these with a pair of Outdoor Research Croc gaiters to get me through our recent snow storm. We got over a foot of snow, my feet didn't get wet, or cold at all. The only downfall is the tongue. I have to adjust it every now again to get the right fit.
I've had these boots for about 2 mo now and have just been wearing around town to break in for summer hiking. So far they are very comfortable and feel great to wear around in. It does take some arranging to get the tongue to fit comfortably. And my only concern is the eyelets possibly breaking from wear or a snag. And they aren't the lightest boots but they make up for them in comfort and support! Go for it!
BOTTOM LINE IS MY FEET SUCK.... Always have, I have never been able to find a pair of hiking boots or shoes that even come close to these. Break in time is minimal, boots are a bit on the heavy end when you pick them up but then feel weightless on your feet... (weird).... The lace structure is durable and makes sense. Hell, I wear these boots to work and I work on concrete floors all day... Just like wearing sneakers. The ankle support is wonderful and the overall shape of the boot works great. I would recommend this boot to anyone looking to hit the trail!!!!
"Awesome, Warm, Comfortable, and Kick Ass"
I bought these boots a year ago, and they are so comfortable and warm. The only problem I have is that if you wear them all day there are times when I have to tie the boots again (yes I know how to do the bunny ears). I hike in these boots, split wood on these boots, crack concrete with these boots; I do everything with these boots.
"The most comfortable boots I've ever put on."
I received these boots sooner than expected. When I opened them up, I was super excited with the look. Then even more excited with the fit. This pesky job of mine prevented me from enjoying them for a couple days, but when I was able to, I was again blown away by the comfort. I put about 8 miles on them the first day out, and 10 the next day. They are my new go to. They really show no sign of wearing out, but when they do, I will get the same ones again. Everyone who sees them complements them. I even started wearing them to the gym to workout in. Best boots ever.
These things are SUPER comfortable. My feet always feel great in these! They keep me warm when it's cold, relatively cool when it's hot, and dry when it's wet. What more could you ask for in a boot? I have even met people (the ones who come around trying to 'save' you money on your electric bill) who don't hike but are walking all day who wear them and they say the same thing as me, GET THESE BOOTS.
By far the best pair of hiking boots I have owned! Not that it's the most important factor, but the style I feel is better compared to other full leather boots. As for performance, the fit and support are the best balance I've found in the 15+ boots I've owned over the past 10 years. Not usually a fan of Gore-tex boots but these breath reasonable well and so far (roughly a year of use) still keep my feet totally dry. Plenty of traction, though the soles seem to be wearing quicker than my last pair of La Sportiva. Excellent ankle support and virtually no break-in. Wore them straight out of the box on 12 mile hike using liner/wool sock combo and no blisters, hot spots or other issues. Will buy again when these wear out. My wife has a similar pair she loves.
"Trek with pride, you are rocking the Fugitive GTX"
If you purchase these boots you are doing your feet a solid. Before picking up a pair of Fugitive GTXs I would backpack in my old Iraq issued Navy desert combat boots. They were comfortable for the base and in the heat, but wow were they not suited for backpacking.I fortunately picked these up from Moosejaw and I would highly recommend them. They are like submarines in water, my feet are bone dry after trekking through puddles and low streams. The only con I would have are the weight. I wish they could shave a few more ounces of the boot.Nevertheless, check these out if you are in the market for new boots. They definitely will not let you down.
I have enjoyed these more than any other I have owned . I know when I put them on I do not have to worry about the warmth, dryness, or the support for my feet !! NO WORRIES !! If you are thinking about these think no longer just order you will be HAPPY,HAPPY, HAPPY !!!
This has been my favorite pair of hiking boots that I have owned. I like the style compared to other full leather boots, and boy these things stay dry with the Gore-tex liners. I have never had a pair of boots stay so dry. My only complaint is the the soles seem to wear a bit more quickly than other boots, but the tradeoff is that it seems to be a sticker rubber, so good for scrambling/etc on rock. These are very well constructed, have a very short break in period, and even though I have replaced them with a new pair, they still get worn quite a bit as I can't seem to part with my first pair of Fugutives.
