The AFS 8000 by Asolo is suitable for altitudes over 5000m, winter and ice climbing.
Asolo-Vibram sole presents a low profile for a better comfort and a design with an excellent grip suitable on all the terrains. It grants a perfect grip on the rocks. It is highly abrasion resistant and the Shock Absorber is in the heel to mitigate the high impact areas on the foot.
I used Asolo 8000's to climb high on Aconcagua Mt. 2011, worked fine, good traction, fit me just about right, worked great with sabretooth crampons. Most important kept my feet warm in -20c. Fit is paramont...Some folks cannot receive the proper fit with these boots, shop for a reputable brand that does.Beware: Of renting of renting plastic boots!!! I heard of one guy who rented Asolo 8000's in Mendosa, Argentina and lost toes because the boots did not protect him from the cold. Insulation get compressed, through repeated rentals!
"narrow feet only-possibly runs a bit small"

The boot seems well constructed. My foot size is 11 so I ordered a size 12. Boot is really narrow-most Asolo's run narrow in my opinion. Also, size 12 still felt slightly on the smaller side for my feet my toes still felt cramped?-I for sure would have lost toe nails. I'm glad I decided to return these and picked up the scarpa invernos instead which I find to be much much much more comfortable. I'll write a review for the inverno's after I test them out this weekend.
"Great boot, the only one needed for everything"

Awesome boot, I've worn it from Mount Washington, NH to Mount Rainier, WA and everything inbetween during the summer season and winter and they the hardest working boot out there 12 summits and 15 days ice climbing and they barely show any wear. The one thing I do have a problem with is the ankle doesn't flex very much so it's not really a beginner boot, go with the Koflach Degre if you want that, but if you know your gear and demand the best out of it for everything you do from summits, to sub zero weather onwards to climbing then this boot will take you there.......also if you look at newer Everest movies you'll see these boots being worn up to ABC, good enough for Everest then its good en
