Rated 5 out of 5 by from Built like a tank, feels like a mink coat If there is only one piece of gear I could save from a fire, it would be by Asolo boots. I have hiked hundreds of miles in these boots, and they are built to last. They have stood up to an entire summer doing survey work on Mt. St. Helens with sharp volcanic rocks everywhere. They are also completely water proof, and keep my feet dry in situations where my friends' feet have been soaked. They fit very comfortably, and I rarely even get warm spots when I wear them, let alone blisters. They provide a lot of support and protection, and are especially sturdy around the ankles. They are a little expensive, but this is one investment that is worth making.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zero blister, die hard! I got my ASOLO 520 GTX boots in the summer of 2001. I've put at least 1000 miles on them, and yes, the sole is more worn than the leather. Easily the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. I've climbed 5 14ers in CO with them, taken them through about 40 miles of the grand canyon, and even took them up the river hike in Zion. I've replaced the laces twice, changed the inserts and they are still completely water proof(my feet did get wet on the Zion hike, but that was in four feet of water). They were the editor's choice in backpacker magazine when i got them in 2001 and they will definitely be my next boot. My guess is in another two years, because I over-pronate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't get any better than these! My first outing in these boots was in rugged Tasmania a couple of weeks ago and boy was I impressed! Was told to wear them in before the 80km hike but only managed a few short walks. They fit like a glove from day 1, no hotspots whatsoever. I didn't think I had worn them in enough as they were always comfortable, I was sure I would be in a world of pain after the first day. Well after 7hrs of uphill, rocky terrain my feet felt great. Very stable across all surfaces and great support. Best of all was seeing others awkwardly side stepping mud and puddles (and still getting wet feet) but I just walked straight through with perfectly dry feet...damn these boots are awesome!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT BOOT FOR COMFORT..wear everyday, but sole fell apart..and replacement pair too expensive I love Asolo Boots...been wearing them for about 10 years now...and they fit very comfortably right out of the box...literally wear them everyday for work, and pleasure...but the last two pairs of these that I bought the sole falls away from the boot after about 1.5 years...otherwise they would still be going strong...I guess I shouldn't complain based on my wearing them every day...I do get my money out of them...but now they are priced well into the mid 250's....too expensive....I am shopping for another brand..I hate to give up on Asolo but they have priced themselves out of the market...I'll try another brand for $150 and test my luck...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LEGIT! I used this product in the mountains of NE Afghanistan while trying to track down the Taliban. This is the best pair of boots i have ever owned. i never got blisters even when fording streams that filled my boots with water while conducting recon missions in our area of operations. we climbed mountains using all sorts of routes and these boots gave me the confidence i needed when placing my feet even in total darkness. this allowed me to focus on security and scanning while moving rather than worrying about sliding down the mountain. they held up great with all of the abuse i put them through. Thanks Asolo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Boot Ever. Buy Some Now. Best boots ever. I'm on my third pair and I'll never stop buying them as long as they continue to make 'em. My second pair lasted all the way through my thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail and my current pair has more than 500 miles on them and they are still going strong. These are serious boots for serious hiking. They are heavy but that's what you want with a heavy load or in rocky country. They are also truly waterproof which means hot but if you need these boots your hot all over anyway so it doesn't matter. The only problem is that the little Gore-Tex placard falls off almost immediately but it doesn't impact the performance of the boot. P.S. For some reason the boots will

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Serious boots that could take a person anywhere on the planet and hold their own. I bought these boots as my primary footwear for a solo hike of the John Muir Trail in the High Sierra, Ca. With some side trips thrown in, I put over 230 miles on these boots over the course of 18 days. With 100's of stream crossings, not once did water get into the boots. These babies are seriously waterproofed and even though the temperatures were pretty hot, my feet never felt that warm from the GoreTex. I really appreciated the extra bumper on the front seeing that with all the rocks and step ups and step downs, I tended to stub my toes often. They took longer for me to break in then some of the other reviewers stated and they are a bit heavier then some other boots out there, but to

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HAD THESE BOOTS JUST SHY OF 4 YEARS.........AWESOME!!!! I have had these boots for 4 years now. The sole is finaly giving way; but keep in mind I am in construction and wear these as my work boots every day, as well they are my hiking boots. They have been a lot of places and taken me hundreds of miles without fault or blisters. Break in is very easy on these boots and wear even better. They are very supportive and fit like a glove. The eyelets are supurb and the leather is as tough as nails. Sending them off to get re-soled and hoping they go another four years. All and all I highly recomend these boots to anyone; they are well worth the price you pay. In this case, "you get what you pay for"
