The Women's R280 Harness by Arcteryx is shaped for the female anatomy. the F-280r is a lightweight and supple all-around harness for multi-talented women. WST construction provides universal support and comfort, the self-locking buckle provides quick entry/exit, and a drop seat speeds calls to nature.

I've been climbing with this harness for 2 years now--outdoors and in the gym. I love it. I haven't had issues with wear like another reviewer did. I don't mind that the leg loops aren't adjustable because they fit me, with enough wiggle room in the fit that I can wear a pair of long johns under my pants when it's chilly outside. My only slight complaint is that the waist loop sags if I have a lot of gear on the loops or if I'm trailing a second rope.

"Tie in points wore surprisingly quickly" 04/23/12

I'm not sure if this is normal for a harness, this is my first harness and after less than a year of use the tie in points wore down. I climb outside once a week, weather permitting (being new england), and climb in my gym a few other days a week. We tie into pre-tied ropes with locking carabiners... Anyway. Supposedly the new Arc'teryx harnesses have stronger tie in points. Like I said, dunno if it's normal for it to wear that quickly but I was a bit surprised.

"Great Harness" 02/29/12

This harness is awesome for the everyday climber and backpacker. My fiancé brags about it and shows it to everyone who will listen because of the amazing light-weight and durable construction. It fits a woman's curves beautifully. But, be forewarned. If you take a whipper on the wall with this on, it's going to hurt. Without the waistband padding, it does tend to cut into your back and thighs. That said, I'd still buy another just like it when this one wares out in 50 years.

"Best light weight ng harness by far !" 01/20/12

In the past i have alternated my harnesses depending on weather im sport climbing or on longer trad climb But since getting this baby its become my one and faithful!>its super light and packs small but still really comfortably on handing belays ! Although i have to say the leg adjustment elastic at the back of the harness is of poor quality but as this is not a part of the safety im not bothered .

"light, comfortable" 04/26/11

lead in this harness for the first time yesterday. found it easy to get to the draws, though I was wondering about the gear loops since they're pretty floppy. The only thing I dont like about it is that you can't unclip the elastic attachments on the leg loops (or at least I couldn't figure it out), which you can on Petzl's Corax harness. Being able to do so makes it very easy to use the, uh, restroom while tied into the anchor on that third pitch waiting for your partner to thread the rope above. Yeah...I find this harness very comfortable to sit in while taking a break, and extremely comfortable to fall in. Not that I ever do that, I swear.

"Couch In The Clouds" 03/16/11

This harness is amazing! It is so comfortable that I get teased for forgetting to take it off when I pack up my gear to hike out because I literally forget that it is on. I recently took this on a multi day trip to RR, Vegas with plenty of hanging belays and long hot days. This harness was put through the test and passed with flying colors! This harness also gets huge points for the size of gear loops. I feel like the back gear loops are a little too far back when you get down to the nitty gritty of your rack, but other than that minor hiccup I LOVE IT! It's worth every $$$.

"measure twice = order once" 02/27/11

This harness is crazy light and simple but still has all the great features and functions. Would've been a perfect rating but the fit was not quite perfect for me due to the leg loops. They are not adjustable which is great not having extra straps dangling around or buckles to deal with BUT please measure yourself carefully before buying! I'm an XS waist for sure but I have a little (or a lot maybe) muscle on my thighs which makes the fit almost too tight. Thankfully there's a little elastic there so I'll definitely make it work. Overall though its awesome and will fit all the tiny ladies out there so you don't have to be constantly tightening straps or buy a dumb kids harness!

"Quality at its best" 12/13/10

This harness is the lightest women's harness I have ever seen (I'm an avid climber and I work at a climbing gym). Arcteryx has an amazing reputation, with good reason, after I gave this harness to my girlfriend everyone in the gym asked if this thing in uncomfortable...she said it is like she isn't wearing anything at all. The ONLY potential downside is that the legs are not adjustable, but believe it or not a lot of people prefer that (including my girlfriend), so this is only a downside to those that prefer adjustable loops.

"Worth every penny spent on the harness" 12/13/10

I gave this harness as a gift to my girlfriend...the harness is amazing. I work at a climbing gym and climb a lot, and this is the harness that turns heads. I got her the black one and it is nothing fancy to look at (not implying it's ugly, it just isn't flashy), but it is pure quality. It is super light weight, and extremely comfortable. On top of all of that, the harness is super adjustable. The webbing on the waist is very long so that many different sized people can fit it.But I do recommend that you know your leg size, because the legs are not adjustable. This thing is truly built for the trad climber! A+

"SkinnyLikeAModel" 10/22/10

So...when I pull this little lady out of my gear bag, my friends guffaw. With no padding it looks painful, but it's my all time favorite piece of climbing gear. I feel so secure. The leg loops are perfect, they don't move and the lack buckles shaves weight and the need to constantly adjust any slippage. I never need to re-adjust anything mid-climb and the gear loops are really durable. Only complaint, it's really hard to unhook the back tie to use the restroom if needed. With extra practice it could be easy, but I spent a good 5 to 10 minutes, both hands trying to take it apart.

"Simply Amazing - hangdog all day if ya want!" 09/28/09

There are some other great harnesses out there, but they pale in comparison to what Arc'Teryx has done with the R280. Its combination of materials and construction is so impressive, you feel like you're not wearing a harness at all. Please don't misunderstand: this harness is bomber, yet exceedingly lightweight & mysteriously seamless, lending itself to one ingenious creation. Usual caveat: Make sure the harness fits you correctly. Like any piece of technical 'clothing', you must ensure a proper fit for safety & comfort. While this harness fits me perfectly, not all beings are created anatomically equal. It goes w/out saying, the one downside to fitted leg loops is lack of adjustability.
