This is not what I would call a "technical" glove. It is great for wearing to work or to the bar, but it is a little bulky and permeable for the trail. Also, it is a little to big to use as a liner. Personalty, I would go with the Gothic fro Arcteryx for more versatility.
These gloves are very comfortable and don't hinder mobility much. My only complaint is the sizing seems to run a little large so I had to buy one size down.
"Warm, Stylish, Well Built but a bit Pricey"
12/20/10
I'll admit it.. I only bought these because they matched my Arc'teryx jacket. They are extremely well built with a quality finish like all Arc'teryx products. Fit is pretty good too (check the size charts) without being clumsy. Like others have said - no problem tying your shoes or typing away on your laptop. Hands stay warm while walking around in the cold city air (sorry no mountains in NJ) but they'll also make a good layering glove for a day on the slopes. A bit pricey though. Overall a solid B+.
"Get the job done without sacrificing functionality"
12/07/10
This is a solid glove. I have only used these gloves as stand alone gloves, I haven't layered them with a mitten. That said, they do a great job blocking the wind and still allow for a full range of motion for my fingers. I can tie my shoes, check my Blackberry while waiting for the train, read a book while on the train - you know really outdoorsy stuff - without having to remove these gloves. I'm tall (6'5") and the XL does the trick. If I was going to spend the whole day outside in frigid temps I'd be sure to grab an extra mitten to layer up.
"Great gloves, good fitkeeping fingers warm yet able to still do small things, like tie your shoes."
11/06/10
These gloves have a great fit and the cuff extends far enough up your wrist to keep out spin drift. Additionally, your fingers are not so bulked up so as to make tying your shoes an impossibility. I would highly recommend these gloves to all but my worst enemy(they don't anything nice the pot lickers!).
