ARC'TERYX MEASUREMENT GUIDE
How to Find Your Foot Measurements
Arc'teryx packs are sized either in 3-length options: Short (S), Regular (R) and Tall (T), or in 2-length options: Short/Regular (SR), and Regular/Tall (RT).
Sizing refers to YOUR OWN BACK LENGTH
Measure your Back:
• Measure along the spine between the 7th cervical vertebra and the level of the hip iliac crest
• Compare this measurement to the Sizing Charts
• It is possible to interchange different size shoulder strap and hipbelt components on many Arc'teryx Packs, but this will not change or affect the back-length of the pack.

Good backpack for school or workFor casual use, this is a great backpack. It's lightweight, durable, with a decent amount of storage. As with almost all Arc'teryx products the quality is top-notch. It has a good number of compartments to separate laptops/tablets, books, pen/pencils, and one specially made to hold a pair of sunglasses. There is also a side pocket to hold a water bottle the size of a 32 oz. Nalgene!
So why does this get only three stars? First off, for a backpack that costs $120+ there should be a sternum strap to hold it firmly in place. This should not be a feature limited to hiking backpacks, but for anyone that may do a lot of walking with a completely full bag whether it's hiking equipment, or walking across a college campus with a ton of books. Second, there is a padded side-loading compartment that is intended for smaller tablets or laptops, but is extremely easy to zip open making the item susceptible to theft while traveling. Lastly, this backpack could have used another pocket right below the logo and/or exterior mesh pockets in the way that many other companies (e.g., Eagle Creek, North Face, etc.) have them.
While the build quality is superb, the design is far from that as it seems for the sake of minimalism than utility. A backpack that costs this much should have as many, if not more features, as those that cost significantly less from other well-respected brands. For school or work this isn't a bad piece, but there are much better options out there for less money.

ten starsI purchased the Pender in black for a young artist. It holds his MacBook Pro, water bottle, snacks, jacket, a tube of drawings, and art supplies. The side front pocket is perfect for his small sketch book. He especially likes the side grab handle which is handy when in a rush. It's both backpack and briefcase!! He says it's very comfortable and durable.
