"Light, but super warm jacket that can serve as as liner or stand alone as its own Jacket." 02/11/13
Wore this jacket in 40 degree temperatures with nothing but a t shirt underneath and was totally fine. Its creates a warmth that just simply does the job even in that cold/wet/nasty weather. Rain beads and rolls right off. Fit is snug, but comfortable in wrists and waist to retain warmth. I work outside on my feet where the temperature can be in the high 80's during the day and drop to 20 degrees when the wind changes direction. This is a great piece of gear to have on hand. This jacket is easily foldable into the small pouch of a camelbak or cargo pocket. It can be pulled out of nowhere to save you butt from the elements. Theres a reason Navy Seals use arc'teryx clothing. True story.
"Best piece clothing I have ever owned" 12/13/12
This is the best and most versatile garment I have ever had the pleasure to touch. Not only is it light weight but it functions admirably at every temperature between 30 and 70 degrees (that's Fahrenheit). It has a miraculous fit; the medium seemingly made for my 5'10" 160lb. body. Not at all shiny like most synthetic jackets. Good stuff if you plan on doing anything. Between you and me I would get the hoody over the zip up.
"Best Synthetic Insulation Out There" 10/26/12
I have owned this jacket for over a year and have gotten more use out of it than I ever thought I would. It is super light weight, feels like you aren't even wearing it, and it packs down really small. This jacket goes with me on every backpacking trip in case the temps drop. It is super warm, you can wear it down to about 20 degrees, and it sheds water pretty well. I also like that it doesn't have the baffled construction so you can wear it around town without getting too many looks. Overall this lives up to traditional Arcteryx standards, they just get all the little things right and this is no exception.
"Best Mid-layer ever!!!!!" 07/23/12
Very, very packable! Packs down to a size of a Nalgene bottle. Super lightweight and feel like you're wearing a sleeping bag...no kidding! Pit zips? Who needs them! This has a breathable fabric that vents heat all day long...it's along the sides of the jacket. Nice internal pocket for that ipod or electronic gizmo. Probably the best midlayer I've ever had. Only thing I could suggest is more colors. :)
"Great Insulated Layer" 01/31/12
I bought this for my husband two years ago when he told me his inner layer for his Columbia jacket was worn out. He really like how snugged it fit him and he was even able to wear this layer in addition to his 3-in-1 Columbia jacket. He doesn't like the bulky look and said this layer was very light and kept him warm. I do find this brand Arcteryx to be a bit pricey but it does live up to all the hype (it is actually on sale now, I paid $250 for it). We live in the East Coast so it gets very cold here and my husband likes that he can layer up without all the weight.
"The Jacket of Kings" 11/19/11
This jacket is the bee's knee's. If God was in the market for a causal athletic jacket, this is what He would wear. Being 6'1 & 155lbs, this jacket fits me perfectly, a slim fit thats snug against the body and rests right at my hips. Took it out in 30 degree weather with high winds, and I felt like I was in the Tropics ( of Capricorn, not Cancer). A little more expensive than TNF, but nearly twice the quality, and that's coming from a fan of TNF. So do yourself, your friends, and your family a favor and go out and pick one up. When you do, tell them 8th President Martin Van Buren sent you. They'll be impressed with your encyclopedic knowledge of history...probably.
"Perfect fit and insulation." 11/03/11
This jacket has a perfect combination of design, fit, workmanship and insulation. It is the perfect jacket to wear all winter long in southern California. It is also perfect to wear under a shell in colder climates. The material around the neck is comfortable and the side panels provide for very easy movement. Arc Teryx makes the best gear available with the primary distinction from it's competitors being a superior fit. Highly recommend you spend a little more to get an Arc Teryx jacket, it's well worth it. Surf with a smile!
"Amazing jacket !" 11/01/11
Got my Atom today and wow! Was wondering mostly about sizing -- at 5'10" / 165 lbs, I was planning to buy the small to go under my size small Beta AR. So after an online question/answer session with 'Snuggy' at moosejaw.com, I ordered the medium and am glad I did -- fits perfectly under my size small Beta AR. Did I mention how toasty and light this thing is? This coat packs a big punch of warm for being so svelte. You will not regret getting this jacket! The perfect mid-layer or spring/fall jacket.I live in Michigan and wanted a jacket for three seasons ... this is the one. Look no further!
