"The best shell available"  01/13/10

The Theta AR is the best all around shell I have ever used. It is reasonably light weight with bomber construction. I use the Theta for skiing, long distance backpacking, and general every day wear. I highly recommend this shell!

"Pricy, but a fabulous jacket!"  11/11/09

Simply put, this is a fantastic jacket. I've had mine for about 2.5 years now and it still looks and performs as well as it did the day I got it. I am 6'4" and it is nice and long in the body and sleeves, has drawstrings in all the right places, nice big armpit vents, a really nice tall collar that actually shields your neck/chin from the elements and an adjustable hood that fits perfectly. every seam is meticulously seam sealed and all of the zippers are 'water proof'. I have been in very heavy rain with this coat and was bone dry when I took it off. Looks great, performs great, very expensive but to me, it was worth the money.

"Well built, light, and great fit"  10/28/09

I love this jacket, they have thought of all the comforts an utility with minimal bulk or extras you don't want or need. The Gore-Tex pro is still a bit crinkly feeling but better than past versions. The jacket packs small but covers my toursue and butt completely. I have long arms and the sleeves on the size L do not ride up and feel perfect. The sizes are true to size. Don't be confused by the hype about new Gore-Tex material this season vs past, it is Gore-Tex pro vs. the old version called XRC. A well built and designed coat that will keep you dry the day after wadding it up wet in your tent over night.

"Built to withstand it all!!"  06/30/09

Don't let the cost of this "Canadian" made jacket discourage you from checking it out. This jacket is for your consideration, if your looking for an all purpose hard shell thats rugged and very well made, in order to withstand the elements and heavy demands of mountaineering . I was surprised at how well this jacket retains body heat, but if you get too hot ,there's the laminated side zippers to allow heat to escape. Its not just functionality ,this jacket is also very comfortable and stylish.

"effin sweet."  03/22/09

this jacket is mean. aesthetically it kicks ass, i got the red one. functionally it is great. this is the longest arcteryx shell they offer. the hood is attached to the collar of the jacket, this is much more comfortable since you can zip the jacket up all the way without having much bulk around your ears and neck. this jacket is the real deal, it has goretex proshell, doesnt get much better than that.

"Bar None the greatest jacket I have ever owned!"  01/14/09

My Theta AR is one bad mo-fo! Whether in rain or snow nothing gets in the way of this awesome shell. The level of waterproofness exceeds any Gore-Tex fabric I have experienced, and the lack of insulation makes this a true 4 season champion. The service at Moosejaw, the price of the coat and them standing behind their products will bring me back in the door again and again. Thanks Moosejaw!

"Crabcakes and football, thats what maryland does"  12/17/08

One of the best purchases of my life. Obviously 100% waterproof, but that's day one stuff when you are buying a pro shell. Very versatile in many conditions. Rainy days become the best days of your life wearing this jacket. Just do it, you won't regret it. Longer cut jacket, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is very short like hobbits or the Keebler elves.

"One of the best out there. Successfully summited 19.340ft, what else can you ask for?"  12/11/08

Great jacket. Like everying arcteryx makes impeccable. Successfully summited Mt. Kilimanjaro in December with the help of this jacket. The pit zips were great for when it was warm coming down in the sun and wearing it for waterproofing in the rain forest. Plan on using it to ski in colorado in february instead of my old north face. Pricey, but should be a jacket I keep for 20 years. Only complaint is that I wish the hood stored away somewhere.

Amazing light and tough. Has done very well in the wet Northwest. High pockets are nice when backpacking.

"The Armani of Gore Tex"  07/14/08

This is my second Theta AR jacket. After the first one I was sold. I gave the first one to a friend. In this jacket I feel taken care of and looked out for. I have used it in stormy weather and heavy snow. Just read the product info and enjoy all the the details when you get it. The only down side is, it's pricy, but what can you do. It will not let you down. There is nothing like layering up, putting on your shell and taking the weather head on. Respectfully that is.
