The Sidewinder AR jacket by Arcteryx is redesigned and re-equipped for deep snow runs, the visually unique Sidewinder AR boasts a snow-blocking powder skirt with gripper elastic and a stowable hood for storm protection. Extra articulation in the arms and shoulders improves mobility.

"Great jacket and perfect to take on your next skiing trip." 		          04/08/09
This Arcteryx Men's sidewinder AR jacket is a perfect weight to wear either alone or with a vest under it when you go skiing. Of course, this jacket also looks great if you just wear it other than skiing also. Great material and holds up well. Easy to pack.

"Off the chain!!!" 		          03/22/09
Basically, this is about the only shell I'll ever need. You've got the storm hood, the snow skirt, the recco reflcetor, waterproof zips, the list goes on...The gore-tex pro shell is super tough and waterproof too, and not at the expense of breatheability. The downfall for some I guess would be the added weight. If you count every ounce, this probably won't be your choice for activities besides in bounds at the resort. However, for the amount of functionality, I find the extra few ounces negligible. Oh, I almost forgot, this baby reels in the ladies too. They love the sidewinder zipper, and think the whole thing is just to die for sexy. BUY IT!

The stow hood is a must, I hate hoods that collect snow or blow around in the breeze. The jacket fits like it was custom made and the pockets are large enough to hold my gloves and a hat. This garment has received more compliments this winter than all my other gear combined.

"First Arcteryx jacket I bought, and it's awesome!" 		          02/21/09
I like to hike, ski, and occasionally climb in the winter. The sidewinder was the perfect fit. It blocks all the wind, sheds moisture, breathes, and has powder skirt to keep the snow from going down my pants. Although they are pricey, the jacket is well worth it.

"Awesome Shell" 		          02/20/09
This jacket is super lightweight and completely water and wind proof. I've used it during several powder dumps in colorado, and while my buddies coats were all heavy and wet, mine stayed dry. All of the pockets are great except for the interior one which is only just big enough to hold my iPod classic, and I don't think would be big enough for an iPhone. As others have said, the jacket is a little crinkly, but you quickly get used to it, and the material is bomb-proof. The zipper going off to the side is a good feature, but works slightly better for regular-footed riders than it does for goofy-footed riders (like me), so its more encouragement for me to ride switch.

The look, fit, materials of the product are first rate. However, the sidewinder zipper concept is the worst innovation in ski jackets. I love all Arcteryx products...except this one. I have a Beta and a Theta, and the fit of the Sidewinder is right up there, except for the whole sidewinder zipper thing, which is truly awful...can't emphasize that enough. The reason that it is not good is that when it is zipped all the way up it chafes on your chin in a very annoying way. If I were to do it all over again, I would have not purchased this particular model. Do yourself a favor and pass by the Sidewinder and boogie on over to the Theta...much better all-around jacket.

Best jacket I have worn. Great attention to detail and worth the extra expense. High abrasion resistance that stands up to daily use. Color stays fresh and looking new for years. Stow-away hood adds a nice amount of substance to the collar when hidden away. This jacket fits like a glove.

Freakin BOMBPROOF!!!! This is the SHELL of all SHELLS!!! I've used it for skiing and hiking for 3 years now and continues to impress me! Did the Tour Du Mont Blanc and rained all day several days stayed dry the whole time. If your looking for the one shell you need, look no further. Go big, or go home you sissy!

"Great hard shell." 		          01/27/08
This is a great hard shell. Totally blocks wind and moisture management was fantastic. I layered this with Patagonia Capilene 4 and Gamma SV underneath and I was warm and dry all day. Didn't even need to use pit zips. Order size that you usually do. Fit was right on.
