I wanted to buy an insulated jacket (like my old ski jacket), but everyone told me not to. This (non-insulated) jacket is surprisingly warm and really does block out the wind and cold. At first, I didn't like the cut of the pockets, but they're really much better than the smaller, lower pockets on most other ski jackets. I'm 5'11" with an athletic build, and the Medium is a good fit--but a little baggy (which leaves more room for layering). It's also a little longer than the slimmer cut Stingray jacket.
I got this jacket for snow shoeing in the cascades. I wanted something different from my normal shell I wear and I wanted it to be a little warmer but not insulated. The soft goretex is really smooth feeling, almost makes you not want to take out into the wilderness it's so nice and soft. The construction is great, my particular jacket was made in Vietnam. The soft goretex does seem to hold heat a little better than a regular goretex shell which was my goal. Because it is a relaxed fit designed for snow boarders, I have to wear a medium when I normally wear a large.... I'm 73 inches 175 pounds. It claims there is a Recco device on it, but I can't find it.
