DECENT FEATURES of the Arcteryx Men's Gamma MX Jacket

Lightweight soft-shell fabric sheds precipitation and provides warmth
DWR finish
Articulated patterning, and gusseted underarms for freedom of movement
Two hand pockets and two chest pockets, laminated sleeve pocket with laminated zipper

"Great jacket" 08/26/12

I really like this jacket. Not über heavy, but you feel secure when it's on. It's a little baggier than my old gamma SV, almost a little boxy. But it's a jacket I reach for when I am headed out

Not sure about the fabric change, but I really like the fit of the jacket. I have an old SV (now AR) that is a bit warmer. But this is a great all around choice. It works even when it's just chilly and you're walking the dog.

"Invest in a good soft shell!" 03/07/12

'Epic' soft shell for everything from climbing to urban wear. The sleeves may run long for some people but I welcome this since the extra coverage comes in handy if you climb in them arms raised. The hip cut stays out of the way for the harness. The stretch of the fabric is ideal for range of motion and is the most breatheable soft shell I have have every used - good enough to consider for aerobic activity. Still warm enough if I layer under a mid weight baselayer or fleece (R1) down to 20. Oh yeah, I dig the arm pocket for my phone. Just wish mine was made in Canada.

"Love this jacket" 02/02/12

I love this thing, it is super light weight and flexible. This coat always blocks the wind and rain very well which makes it suprisingly warm for how thin it is.

"Limitless" 01/16/12

This jacket is limitless. I've taken this jacket from Chile to Detroit and never once had an issue with it becomming saturated or failure to block elements for extended periods. Its lightweight feel is no indicator of what it can handle. It performs on all levels; uncomplicated, ergonomic, breathable, water shielding, keeps its shape and easy to clean.I recommend this jacket for all conditions, layer as usual..

"Best Softshell So Far..." 09/24/11

This jacket is the best softshell that I have tried on so far. I prefer a softshell as my go to jacket for cold days when I'm just going out to work or out with friends; nothing too hardcore and this one has a good fit. I'm 5'11" 170 lbs. with broad shoulders and the M works for me with enough room to wear an undershirt and another shirt or light sweater. When I ordered, I got a L too but that was little too baggy in the torso/chest area but had enough room to layer if that's what someone would like to do. The only thing I'd change on jacket is to make it a little longer; I know it's supposed to be hip length but it'd be nice to get just another inch or two of coverage in the front.

"Go To Jacket" 09/21/11

I have more than a few jackets (much to my new wife's concern). Most are Arc'teryx or Mountain Hardwear (I have an older Windstopper Tech, which I like when there's no rain). I consider this jacket a, if not the, go to. Fits well, fabric is superior. Wish I had bought one earlier. I have rated more than a few products, but this one stands out. I like it better than my Venta.Caveat is that Michigan winter weather has yet to set in. But I think this and my Theta AR (an ancient one) will see me through. This review is for the new Fortius fabric jacket.

"Great multipurpose soft shell" 09/20/11

Picked this up two weeks ago, its been cool enough the last few days to test it out. Its fits great very athletic cut, Im 5'9 155 pounds and the medium fit me perfectly. It looks great for causal wear around the city. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and I highly recommend this soft shell to anyone looking for a jacket in this category. You cant go wrong with Arcteryx, it may cost more than other brands but the extra money is definitely worth it.
