"great gift, great jacket" 11/01/12
Got this for christmas, have been wearing it quite often since then. Great jacket for the cold, windy, and often wet San Francisco winter days. Took a little getting use to the pockets, jacket is designed with the thought of you wearing a pack so they are easily accesible without having to take the pack off. After a few weeks the pockets being different isn't noticeable. Overall, a great jacket. Can't wait to add more to my collection.
"For an everyday jacket I would go with something else" 10/16/12
This jacket looks slick but as others have mentioned the pockets are a little awkward so for an everyday jacket I would pick something more functional. I get really hot in it but I run warm so it may just be me
"Looks Crazy Slick" 02/12/12
I love this jacket! It is a perfect jacket for mild weather and looks amazing. I get compliments on it all the time. This is a great jacket however it is just a layer it is not vary warm but perfect on the days where you just need a shell to wear over a sweatshirt.
"Pretty Nice, Not great" 12/08/11
I got a good deal on the jacket off of SAC. Ordered Everglade color. the picture looks yellow but it is more Green than yellow. The one thing I did not like about the jacket were the wrists. They were trim and they didn't have wrist closures. If you aren't going to have wrist closures then the opening should be smaller. If you do have wrist closures it can be a little more roomy. Just seemed like a bad idea for skiing. Either way loose over the top of my gloves allowing snow in or wadded up to go under my glove..
"Would be great for anything with a harness, not that great for around town." 11/18/11
For everyday wear, the pockets are way too high and uncomfortable to rest your hands in. There is no elastic around the wrists to prevent drafts. The material feels very nice and it is a warm jacket otherwise.
"Perfect everyday jacket" 10/26/11
I love this jacket. It's perfect for spring/autumn and mild winter days here in Oslo. I just vary my layering underneath, from a t-shirt to midweight capilene for colder days. Very stretchy and nice material, gives you full freedom of movement. Super lightweight too, and it looks good. The athletic fit is perfect, I am 185cm and 95kg, and it fits me perfectly.I've worn it in the rain a couple times, and so far it's holding up good to some rain as well.
"Old Fainthful" 10/05/11
This has been my go-to jacket for the past three years. Besides the constant abuse I've dealt out to it, it still preforms and looks like new. Don't know how it does it, but it kills the wind, stops it dead. I often wear it riding my motorcycle, and even at highway speed my nipples still stay nice and flaccid.Another thing totally unrelated to motorcycle riding, the large front pockets can easily hold 4 bottles of beer. In total, not each.My only two grufs (?) with this jacket there are no real pockets to comfortably keep your hands, and a little piling on the jacket interior.
"great softshell" 09/12/11
I got this jacket mainly to wear around town as it doesn't really get too cold in Phoenix. I've worn it a few times in my old 76 bronco that has no roof and no doors. Even on cold mornings this jacket does an excellent job of blocking the wind and keeping me warm. Also on a recent trip to Alaska I wore this under the Beta AR jacket and it did a great job of keeping me warm. I definitely recommend it!
"Well Made, Damn Good all purpose jacket with a high price tag" 06/23/11
I think this is one of the best all purpose jackets on the market. The stretch fabric is top drawer and the jacket is useful in a wide range of climates and activities. It blocks wind very well with good water resistant against light shower. What is really impressive about this handsome jacket is its versatility as well as durability- not only will it handle a range of climatic conditions, this softshell handle backpacking, rock climbing with ease. Like most Arcteryx product, Gamma AR is damn expensive, but you can basically give away all other "soft shells" with the exception of a rain shell - Trust me, this All-Arounder is that good.
"Damn fine softshell." 05/31/11
I ordered this jacket after trying it on in an overpriced local store. I was instantly impressed. The XL fit me perfectly (I'm 6'3" 270lbs).Normally I run extremely hot but on a recent hike as I gained altitude I started to get cold. I put on the jacket and was extremely comfortable. The large pockets on the are mesh inside and work as vents. I was able to finish the entire hike wearing the jacket without overheating.I also like that the pockets are higher up and the front is cut short to keep it out of your pack's belt. Also the water resistancy is pretty decent for a softshell.I'm extremely pleased with this jacket. Easily worth the cash for it.
"Great, very versatile jacket!" 03/18/11
This jacket totally rocks!!!! Warmer than you'd expect from such a lightweight, thin jacket, but also can be vented for when temps rise. It will NOT rip, tear, etc. The cut is at the waist and fits snuggly, so buy your exact size or up one, especially if you are in between. One of the best jackets I have purchased.
