Chest / Bust - Measure around your chest / bust, holding the measuring tape under your armpit.

Waist - Measure around the natural waist, which is often the narrowest part of your waist.

Hip - Measure around your hips at the widest part.

Sleeve Length - With your arms in a slightly bent position, measure from the center of the back of your neck, along the length of your arm, to the wrist.

Inseam / Pant Length - From a standing position, measure from your crotch to your ankle.

Head Circumference - Measure the full circumference around the widest part of your head.

Hand Length - Measure from the tip of your middle finger to the base of the palm.

Hand Width - Measure the circumference of your hand around the knuckles, excluding the thumb.

• Please note that all the info provided above refers to body measurements, and NOT the dimensions of the garment.

Next to Skin Fit - These snugly-fitting garments are made with stretch fabrics to fit next to the skin to enhance moisture management and thermal efficiency. Garments in this fit category when constructed using Arc'teryx's heavier-weight AR and SV fabrics also perform very well as mid layer pieces, and users should consider selecting a larger size to accommodate a base layer underneath if the intention is to use this layering system as a mid layer option.

Trim Fit - Trim-fitted garments share the motion-friendly traits with Arc'teryx "Athletic" fit garments, but are patterned with lower volume for reduced bulk. These close-fitting pieces layer well under other garments.

Athletic Fit - This is the "Arc'teryx Standard" fit. These complete patterns utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion by minimizing excess bulk. Easy layering under or over each item extends seasonal versatility and comfort.

Relaxed Fit - Relaxed fit garments rely on higher volume patterns and a reduced amount of articulation to offer roomy mobility.

Expedition Fit - Cut roomier than the Arc'teryx Athletic fit and suitable for winter/extreme conditions, Expedition (XPD) fit garments are cut larger to accommodate multiple layers without binding or restricting movement.

• You can find the fit type and additional fit info for Arc'teryx styles in the product description FEATURES and SPECIFICATIONS.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well Made, Damn Good all purpose jacket with a high price tag I think this is one of the best all purpose jackets on the market. The stretch fabric is top drawer and the jacket is useful in a wide range of climates and activities. It blocks wind very well with good water resistant against light shower.,,,,What is really impressive about this handsome jacket is its versatility as well as durability- not only will it handle a range of climatic conditions, this softshell handle backpacking, rock climbing with ease. ,,,,Like most Arcteryx product, Gamma AR is damn expensive, but you can basically give away all other "soft shells" with the exception of a rain shell - Trust me, this All-Arounder is that good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Softshell I've found! ArcT does it again (as usual). This was my first Arcteryx piece and it instantly cemented my love affair with those design & quality fanatics from Vancouver.,,,,It is full of stretchy, warm, breathable, water resistant goodness. Fabu athletic fit, and tough as nails. In addition to working great under a wide range of conditions, it never fails to garner compliments on it's looks.,,,,I don't understand all of the hoo-ha about ArcT stuff made in China. My jacket was made there, and it's assembly is as close to perfect as any item of clothing I've ever owned (or seen, for that matter).,,,,ArcT stuff is expensive, but well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Damn fine softshell. I ordered this jacket after trying it on in an overpriced local store. I was instantly impressed. The XL fit me perfectly (I'm 6'3" 270lbs).,,,,Normally I run extremely hot but on a recent hike as I gained altitude I started to get cold. I put on the jacket and was extremely comfortable. The large pockets on the are mesh inside and work as vents. I was able to finish the entire hike wearing the jacket without overheating.,,,,I also like that the pockets are higher up and the front is cut short to keep it out of your pack's belt. Also the water resistancy is pretty decent for a softshell.,,,,I'm extremely pleased with this jacket. Easily worth the cash for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket So, I bet you are looking at this jacket and reading the reviews thinking, yeah, I know that Arcteryx is supposed to be good stuff but the price of this seems awefully expensive, it can be that much better. Now let me tell you, this jacket is sweet. Wear this thing and you get a tough jacket, functionally fantastic, and the fit is better than any other that I have tried on. ,,Buy this and a fleece and you have the most versatile and functional solution that you can own. You will be able to go from summer to the coldest day in the winter. This is my winter jacket. And yes I live in Michigan where it is plenty cold.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Color not what I thought, not a stand alone winter jacket. I thought the coffee bean would be more of a brown color, I was wrong. It is a green color with a gold label. Much different than the picture on the website. I returned it immediately. That being said, it is an okay jacket. The collar is a bit too high for my liking (popped collar look not my thing) and it doesn't look good down. It is much thinner than I expected for a 275 dollar jacket. I bought this to wear casually during the winter as a stand alone jacket and I'm not sure if it would keep me warm, at all.,,As for sizing, I am 6'0, 195 lbs, with fairly long arms and bought a Large. The sleeve length was perfect, but it being a "waist length" jacket, it was too short in the front.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid I bought the discontinued Merlot color. Like all ArcTx, this is top quality. Great value at the $160. Unfortunately, I have short arms, and the sleeves were about 2 inches too long. I am about 5'7", 165 and the medium fit perfect, except for the arms. I ended up, against my will, returning it b/c I got tired of having to adjust the leaves on my wrists. I even took it to a tailor to ask about having the sleeves shortend. He did not feel confident working with the stretch material and wanted 80 dollars. If you are a little taller than me, you will be very happy with the Gamma AR

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old Fainthful This has been my go-to jacket for the past three years. Besides the constant abuse I've dealt out to it, it still preforms and looks like new. ,,Don't know how it does it, but it kills the wind, stops it dead. I often wear it riding my motorcycle, and even at highway speed my nipples still stay nice and flaccid.,,Another thing totally unrelated to motorcycle riding, the large front pockets can easily hold 4 bottles of beer. In total, not each.,,,,My only two grufs (?) with this jacket there are no real pockets to comfortably keep your hands, and a little piling on the jacket interior.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nifty softshell who loves long walks on the beach Surprisingly warm considering its' deceptive lack of weight. Interior won't grab onto under layers, sleeves don't ride up, I'm 6'2" 200lbs and the large fits perfect. The zippers on this jacket will blow your mind: they are silky smooth like a badger chewing through a boiled cucumber. Wind resistance is great >25mph, higher than that and you'll want to break out the hardshell. DWR is great too; spilled my coffee on it, wiped right off. Don't wipe your nose on it though, that's just disrespectful to such a classy garment.
