The Arc'teryx Men's Beta LT Jacket is a no-nonsense GORE-TEX® Pro waterproof shell that is light enough to take with you on any pursuit. My buddy Jeff owns one of these and I'm always jealous when I see him wearing it on hiking trips. I asked him to give me a quick review but he muttered something about me doing my own job. Jeff is grumpy today. But the Beta LT doesn't care how grumpy or incosiderate you might be towards your friends, it will still keep you fully protected from rain and wind. Weighing in at 12.5 oz, it is extremely packable and will withstand being crammed into your pack, even in a grumpy Jeff-like manner. So pick up this shell and rest assured that it will always be there for you when times get tough, even if you've alienated everybody else in your life. Like Jeff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultimate Travel, Adventure companion Super lightweight to travel with for those unexpected weather days with great protection from the elements. I've used this to locally, fall, spring and even winter and travelled with it to Asia and Canada. I ordered a small, I'm a smaller build at 145lb and 5'9" and along with other Arcteryx jackets, the size is spot on. Keep in mind that it is an athletic fit, but is is true to size and fits great on me. The jacket is simple, clean and well designed. $500 for a paper thin material, some say is crazy, but it's well worth it. I tried using it snowboarding and it's great, but it doesn't have the waist gaiter so don't fall in powder. :),,,,No negatives on this one. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shell Got this jacket several weeks ago and I really like it. I purchased it to replace my RAB Myraid jacket which I also really liked. I live in Chicago and we have had single digit temps the last couple weeks and I have been wearing it with my Arcteryx Atom Hoody. Keeps me warm, I have full range of movement and both combined are very light. I like the cut of the coat. I was concerned that the hood would not be as good as my RAB hood and I was happy to find out that it is. I like buying products that last and are the best quality available and you can't go wrong with Arcteryx products!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile jacket that can be used in a variety of conditions This is a great jacket that can be used as a rain jacket in the summer over a t-shirt or a ski jacket over a fleece (or multiple layers) in the winter. I live in Atlanta and only ski 3-5 days/yr in Colorado. I wanted a year-round jacket that I also could layer and use as a ski jacket in the winter. It works perfectly for that. And it looks great. I'm 5'11" 160 lbs. and the medium is perfect.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fantastic against wind, struggles in rain 6'1 150 pounds, fit's my skinny body perfectly. It's very athletic and I still have room for layers underneath. ,,,,This jacket is outstanding in the wind. I can't even feel the wind when I wear there and sometimes it makes me wonder if my entire body was covered in this material.. How cool would that be. ,,,,Pockets are nice, zippers are great. ,,,,RAIN!! NO!! I live in Seattle so it rains 300 days out of the year. I brought this to a Sounders game the other night while my brother wore a SOUNDERS jacket that cost him 80 dollars. His jacket was repelling rain like nothing I've seen before while mine was soaked. I couldn't believe it because I also have a REI 75 dollar rain jacket that does MUCH better than this thing. ,,,,I would return it but I feel bad wasting Moosejaw's time with it. I've already had to exchange one jacket in the past due to a malfunction..But to be honest, I'm not happy that it costs me $400.00 for a jacket that can't repel water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why buy anything else besides Arc'teryx? This is my second Arc'teryx shell and the quality continues to be legendary. My first one has been to hell and back without a single scratch and I am hoping this one will continue the tradition. This versatility of the shell is amazing. I can use this Beta LT while I'm hiking around Colorado Springs, during a downpour on campus, or while snowboarding at Tahoe and feel comfortable all the while. As long as you know how to layer properly, this jacket could take you down into the polar vortex and back, no questions asked. The one downside of this jacket was the lack of pit-zips. They're not a necessity but are nice to have in case you get a little bit steamy in warmer weather. I'm 6'2" and 175lbs and the large fits me perfectly. I obviously highly recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a new shell that's versatile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hall of Fame Gore-Tex hard shell - SIZE ISSUES Phenomenal jacket, hyper light weight, great looks and at $300 that I paid (which is about the cost of an entry level gore-tex jacket) cannot be beat. I bought the Anvil grey. * VERY IMPORTANT... Size up! I originally ordered the Medium. I wear Med in just about everything, I'm 6'0" 180 very athletic build (Ironman, marathoner, climber, etc). I wear S or M in TNF, my Marmot Troll Wall jacket and Alpinist jackets are M and I can fit 2 base layers and a Feathered Friends Daybreak down jacket under it. The Med in this jacket was so tight that I had zero room, and all I was rearing was a Brooks Brother's linen shirt in Medium SLIM FIT. Arc Teryx calls this a regular fit, so I'd hate to see an athletic fit. I used both the Arc Teryx fit guide as well as Moosejaw's own fit guide, both said I was a Med, even after upping my weight to 200lbs and and average belly, it still said medium... I'm a svelte guy and there's just no way. Forget trying to get any layering on under such a tight jacket. I re-ordered a Large and it's near perfect. Arms are a tad long but not anything to worry about. I should note that this Beta LT in Large is still smaller than my Marmot Troll Wall (Eclipse Blue 2009-2010 model) in size medium. In the end it's a holy grail jacket, just order a size up if you don't want a skin tight chest area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best All around rain jacket This is the second Beta LT I have owned and for good reason. It looks great and fits better and best of all, it keeps you dry! Recently took it on a climbing trip to switzerland. On a real cruddy, rainy day when nothing else was going, we decided to do a Via Ferrara route. 6 Hours and 1100 ft later, This jacket kept me bone dry and happy turning what could have been a miserable experience into a great one. You will not go wrong with this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good jacket for both city use and mountaining use At first, I'm choosing my first Arcteryx jacket from Alpha ar, Beta ar, Beta lt. Finally I decided to get the Beta lt only because it's on sale on Moosejaw and it's cheaper than the others. However when I finally get it, I found it super good. It's very light and with crazy water proof. Since I'm using it for both skiing and regular city use, I think it's the best choice of me.

Chest / Bust - Measure around your chest / bust, holding the measuring tape under your armpit.

Waist - Measure around the natural waist, which is often the narrowest part of your waist.

Hip - Measure around your hips at the widest part.

Sleeve Length - With your arms in a slightly bent position, measure from the center of the back of your neck, along the length of your arm, to the wrist.

Inseam / Pant Length - From a standing position, measure from your crotch to your ankle.

Head Circumference - Measure the full circumference around the widest part of your head.

Hand Length - Measure from the tip of your middle finger to the base of the palm.

Hand Width - Measure the circumference of your hand around the knuckles, excluding the thumb.

• Please note that all the info provided above refers to body measurements, and NOT the dimensions of the garment.

Next to Skin Fit - These snugly-fitting garments are made with stretch fabrics to fit next to the skin to enhance moisture management and thermal efficiency. Garments in this fit category when constructed using Arc'teryx's heavier-weight AR and SV fabrics also perform very well as mid layer pieces, and users should consider selecting a larger size to accommodate a base layer underneath if the intention is to use this layering system as a mid layer option.

Trim Fit - Trim-fitted garments share the motion-friendly traits with Arc'teryx "Athletic" fit garments, but are patterned with lower volume for reduced bulk. These close-fitting pieces layer well under other garments.

Athletic Fit - This is the "Arc'teryx Standard" fit. These complete patterns utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion by minimizing excess bulk. Easy layering under or over each item extends seasonal versatility and comfort.

Relaxed Fit - Relaxed fit garments rely on higher volume patterns and a reduced amount of articulation to offer roomy mobility.

Expedition Fit - Cut roomier than the Arc'teryx Athletic fit and suitable for winter/extreme conditions, Expedition (XPD) fit garments are cut larger to accommodate multiple layers without binding or restricting movement.

• You can find the fit type and additional fit info for Arc'teryx styles in the product description FEATURES and SPECIFICATIONS.
