The Fission SL Jacket by Arcteryx is the lightest fully waterproof insulated jacket, delivering exceptional warmth-to-weight with Gore-Tex Pro Shell protection. Constructed with laminated ThermaTek non-quilted insulation, this lightweight jacket is both warm and hydrophobic. Featuring pit zips to extend active usability on cold days, and an insulated Storm Hood to provide shelter as conditions demand. And we all know how demanding conditions can get. They rarely say please.

"Pricey but well worth the extra penny!" 01/12/13

I am 5' 8'' and 170 lbs and the medium fits perfect. The hood is plenty big to go over your helmet, so you can protect your skull and stay warm. Side vents open up and will keep you cool during those spring skiing days. Bottom Line...wouldn't trade this jacket for anything (almost anything).

"Perfect All Around" 02/12/12

Perfect all around jacket. Not too bulky/warm (like my SV version) and easy to dump excess heat with the pit zips (unlike my SV version). A bit slimmer cut that the SV as well - which makes a perfect fit for me. The hood is insulated and warm - on same days, wish it stowed away. Pretty warm jacket with minimal layers. The black is a nice color too. A little crinkly at first, but goes away after use. I wish I bought this jacket first instead of the Alpha LT, Sidewinder AR and AV or even the SV version of this jacket. This jacket works in most conditions.

"Warm, light but easy to get scratched" 12/06/11

Used this one for a 4-day mountaineering trip with weather conditions like gusty wind, chill, heavy snow. I was really happy that the jacket kept me warm and dry inside all the way to the summit. The only thing I need to remind is that the gore-tex shell is not that strong for sharp rocks. I got scratches on my jacket when I climbed a technical route.

"Amazing Jacket" 12/05/10

This jacket is not only waterproof, but warm and stylish as well. I'd definitely buy another one in a heartbeat if needed. (but probably not with Arcteryx's build quality!) Overall, a great buy highly recommended.

This jacket is waterproof, warm, and best of all GREAT Looking. The fit is perfect and I'd definitely buy another one in a heartbeat. Though I high doubt thats going to happen with arcteryx's build quality.

"If it had poles, I'd live in it" 09/27/10

The warmth to weight ratio is simply stunning. Even in a very cold snowstorm, I felt very comfortable. I used the jacket to climb Rainier and it did the job perfectly. Great feature is the oversized mesh pockets on the inside. With clumsy gloves, I had no problem dumping stuff in them. The Fission is not cheap but I talked myself into it by saying 5 times I only buy something like this once in my life. And so far I did not want any other jacket.

"looking for poles to turn it into my home" 01/16/10

Weight and warmth are simply perfect. This is the first jacket where I use the hoody, it is very comfy. The 2 oversize mesh pockets on the inside are brilliant. I'll trow in my gloves, buff etc.Awesome jacket.

"Looking for the right poles to turn it in my home" 01/16/10

Other have already described the fantastic warmth and weight. I'll add the insulated hoody. I normally hate hoodies but on this jacket I actually use it a lot, very comfy. The 2 oversize pockets on the inside are brilliant. I'll throw in my gloves, buff etc.

"waterproof, warm, looks great - all round great jacket" 01/09/10

I bought this jacket about 2 months ago from moosejaw after I decided there was no way I was going to freeze through another New York winter. It's kept me warm in all conditions (down to about 15F) so far with just a t-shirt on under it. It's definitely passed the waterproof test; I've walked home in a few down pores and been completely dry when I arrived.The only negative thing I can say is that the hood (which I love) is sometimes hard to adjust so it's both comfortable and fits close to your face to keep you warm. This may just be something that I have to keep working on.I'm 5'11", 180lbs and the large fits me perfectly.

"AWESOME Phenomenal Jacket" 11/19/09

Purchased a year ago. Have been in all sorts of weather, Hard Rain, Wind, Sever Cold, You name it and this jacket rocks. Snowboarding with a thin layer underneath you stay very comfortable never cold, where it on my motorcycle and feel NO WIND! even on the coldest days, where it over my suits for work in the winter. Its awesome the only jacket you need. Use it all of the time. Its light and a pleasure to wear. RAIN WIND and COLD you are comfortable.

"Great jacket" 08/05/09

Great jacket, not fully convinced the 250 goretex can take abuse, but its ridiculously warm and confortable. Be careful not to let the storm hood develop an awkward shape or the front part will always be rubbing against your neck or chin. Other than that, great belay jacket and kept me warm down to 0 with 20 mph winds.
