I was skeptical of the beanie, but ordered b/c of the brand, yep thats how I roll. Got it and it was a bit small and was a little long for me. It kept ridding up and I've got a small dome. Two careful tugs on it and I was good to go. I like the style, but it did take some getting use to. I wear it when the temps are just over freezing to walk the dog and go on walk and it's not too hot. I've had it in -13C temp watching a concert for over an hour and was toasty warm. Give up the dough and go for it.
I have this hat in the Blackbird color and love it. It fits extremely well; it is perfectly tight enough to keep the cold air out without being too tight. The fleece lining around the ears is fantastic, as well. I will purchase another one of these in another color, because it's just perfect. Big ups!
"Has The Warmth of Wool and Comfort of Fleece!"
As another reviewer has mentioned if you order the blackbird color, chances are the Arcteryx logo will be in red rather than the white pictured. However that does not take away from it's awesome performance of keeping your head warm while not overheating oneself. Rocking this hat outside in 30 degree weather kept me warm and when I walked into the Moosejaw store I kept it on and never felt uncomfortably warm! The fit is tight and roomy in order that it stays on your head while giving maximum coverage of your ears. A++
Ok, so here's another review about another hat, right? WRONG punk! This is thee hat for those winter days. The hat fits great. I don't have a super large melon but what I do have has to be warm. I have 3/4 inch plugs in my ears and this hat even covers those but doesn't cover my delicious eyebrows! All in all, a great fitting hat that is lined with fleece to keep your radar dishes nice and toasty!
This is the only beanie I own, so it's hard for me to compare it to others. I have a medium sized head and this beanie/skull cap almost covered my eyebrows when pulled all the way down on my head, which is a bit bigger than I would have liked. And it doesn't look very good if you leave the top part of it loose, unless you have thick, curly hair (mine is straight and flat). The lined fleece headband is a nice touch, although there is still some wool that extends past the headband that makes my neck and forehead a bit itchy when wearing it. The design looks pretty nice, although I ordered the Blackbird color and the "Arc'teryx" stitching was red, and not the grey color as shown, which probably meant I got a previous year's model. Overall, I'd still wear this beanie, though I'm not sure if it's worth the "Arc'teryx" price.
This hat is small, fits snug and I have a fairly small head, luckily not an issue for me. Fleece lining around the ears is nice, pretty warm hat considering how thin it is. Good hat if you're going to wear a helmet over it.
I got this beanie just so I can be an Arcteryx snob. It's not because it's beautifully made, nor because it matches my other arcteryx gear, nor because arcteryx makes some of the best gear out there.... it's really just beause I love being an Arcteryx snob.. Ok, all joking aside, I saw this beanie in few of Arcteryx gear introduction movies on youtube made by Arcteryx, and it sold me simply because it matched Aphix hoody which I happened to buy from Moosejaw few weeks ago. My co-worker happened to have the same beanie and I have seen it in person and loved the quality and how it fits on my head, so it was a no brainer to get myself one ASAP!
