Chest / Bust - Measure around your chest / bust, holding the measuring tape under your armpit.

Waist - Measure around the natural waist, which is often the narrowest part of your waist.

Hip - Measure around your hips at the widest part.

Sleeve Length - With your arms in a slightly bent position, measure from the center of the back of your neck, along the length of your arm, to the wrist.

Inseam / Pant Length - From a standing position, measure from your crotch to your ankle.

Head Circumference - Measure the full circumference around the widest part of your head.

Hand Length - Measure from the tip of your middle finger to the base of the palm.

Hand Width - Measure the circumference of your hand around the knuckles, excluding the thumb.

• Please note that all the info provided above refers to body measurements, and NOT the dimensions of the garment.

Next to Skin Fit - These snugly-fitting garments are made with stretch fabrics to fit next to the skin to enhance moisture management and thermal efficiency. Garments in this fit category when constructed using Arc'teryx's heavier-weight AR and SV fabrics also perform very well as mid layer pieces, and users should consider selecting a larger size to accommodate a base layer underneath if the intention is to use this layering system as a mid layer option.

Trim Fit - Trim-fitted garments share the motion-friendly traits with Arc'teryx "Athletic" fit garments, but are patterned with lower volume for reduced bulk. These close-fitting pieces layer well under other garments.

Athletic Fit - This is the "Arc'teryx Standard" fit. These complete patterns utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion by minimizing excess bulk. Easy layering under or over each item extends seasonal versatility and comfort.

Relaxed Fit - Relaxed fit garments rely on higher volume patterns and a reduced amount of articulation to offer roomy mobility.

Expedition Fit - Cut roomier than the Arc'teryx Athletic fit and suitable for winter/extreme conditions, Expedition (XPD) fit garments are cut larger to accommodate multiple layers without binding or restricting movement.

• You can find the fit type and additional fit info for Arc'teryx styles in the product description FEATURES and SPECIFICATIONS.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from High quality, needs a few improvements The shell is a thin goretex, about as breathable as it gets, with a second layer of relatively thin leather on the palm, thumb, and fingers. Get them if fine seam taping appeals to you, very dextrous and comfortable. The stitching on the leather is like a fine driving glove. I use them helicopter skiing, which means the conditions are as variable as it gets. The removable liner is likewise finely sewn with no bulky seams, too warm for me to unless well under 0 F. I can't speak to durability yet, but they look fragile; presumably the warranty would cover major wear. Needs idiot cords, and the plastic clamp/strap on the back is disappointing-needs a solid piece of velcro or something firmer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great glove—but could use some work Pros:,,Great materials ,,Great concept,,Great dexterity,,,,Cons,,Price Price Price,,Some features need a bit more thinking out,,,,They are wonderful gloves, mitten warm—inner liner has high loft without hindering dexterity. The cinch could use a little work because hitting it releases it; I wish they would've used a different mechanism—maybe non-quick release with non-stretch webbing? I do however love the fit of them, longer skinny fingered nosferatus should beware, these are for shorter fingered people—you might have to size up.,,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great golve! One downside on the color... Best gloves ever!! Warmest!! I tested them during my winter vacation in Whistler. Skiing, snowshoeing, mountaineering in -15c you will feel no cold. My hands remained dry during the entire day.The color is awesome I loved it. There is one issue tho. After the first day on the slopes the orange top layer of the dye started peeling off revealing brighter color beneath (I wish I could attach a photo). Since I was in Whistler and Arcteryx has a store I walked in and asked if its knows issue they said no and that its not warranty covered but normal. Since I paid near $300 and didn't sound normal to me I contacted both Moosejaw and Arcetryx online. Their CS rocks! Arcteryx confirmed that's a known issue with that particular color and that they will replace them for a black pair with no problem. I just shipped the gloved to their warranty department. So play it safe and get the black! Dye issue is the only reason I give it 4 not 5. Will test the black and add an updated review.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great gloves I used these on a recent igloo making trip and they worked extremely well. The temperature outside was well below freezing and my hands stayed warm and dry through the entire process. They have good flexibility in the fingers though I was hoping to have a little more dexterity. However I was surprised a bit on how much the snow had worn down a little bit on the pads of the fingers on just one trip, there was a lot of ice though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes snowballs well These gloves are exceptional. I haven't used a glove with better fit and dexterity. I was breaking pencil lead thick branches with ease and all the while staying dry for the hours spent digging a snow cave. Even when the leather was cold and stiff from days and nights of being in the snow my fingers never felt debilitated. If my nostrils were bigger I could pick my nose during single digit outings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best gloves ever! I have only been able to use these a few times so far. Very warm and extremely well designed. The wrist cinch is elastic with a slide buckle (not the cam people complained about on the previous model). Holds until released, no problems. The cuff drawstring is the easiest I have ever used; pull the shock cord to tighten, pull the grey tab to fully release. The liner is pressed flat (to reduce bulk) and lined with a stiff, smooth material where it will overlap the jacket arm, so it stays open and slides on easily. The leashes are a thin cord with a plastic button threaded on it. So thin and light you won't even notice it until you take off the gloves and let them hang. Excellent fit and much greater dexterity (as advertised) than similar gloves. Absolutely water and wind proof yet as breathable as a hard shell. Unlike the Alpha SV shell these are made in China not Canada yet the quality seems the same. Top notch!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Glove that I will take with me on any kind of cold weather adventure!! Took these gloves to Utah over the weekend for a skiing trip. I did a lot of research before buying these gloves due to the price tag....however they were worth every penny! First of all some of the reviews said the glove was not warm at all. My experience with them was not fact on Saturday at Snowbird it was low 20's and the wind was blowing 30mph with snow all day long. My hands stayed warm and toasty all day long. On Sunday at Deer Valley it was in the upper 20's with low wind and snow and after several runs I had to take the original liners out and go to a icebreaker ultra thin glove liner and the shell as my hand were sweating. After this adjustment my hands were comfortable all day. The fit was perfect...I followed the size guide from Arcteryx and it was spot on. The dexterity of the gloves was amazing and the quick release tab for the draw cord was very well thought out and useful throughout the weekend long trip!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Extremely functional This pair of Glove is one of my favorites now, especially it comes to an extreme weather up there in the mountain, keep you fingers warm and functional also the durability. The only downside the size runs big, you might wanna consider to get a size down unless you prefer a bulky feel ;)

How do these compare in warmth and dexterity to the Beta AR or the Beta shell glove + liner?  Will they be decently waterproof for ice climbing?

Asked by: Joindc
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! You've picked two amazingly solid gloves. Honestly, these are almost perfectly matched. For warmth, they're both going to have the removable Polartec Wind Pro high loft fleece liner, for dexterity they both have the Tri-Dex Technology and for waterproofing, they both have the N80p-x GORE-TEX Pro Shell 3L waterproof outer shell combined with leather palm overlay. This is like Sophie's choice here! If I had to choose, I'd pick the SV, only because it's the winner of the National Geographic Adventure Gear of the Year Award 2010....and, it comes in Tobiko (orange). Hope this helped you out!
