"Fingers are tingling in anticipation..."
Been totally jelly since my bro in law got stuck out overnight after helicopter couldn't pick up b/c of weather. Every other guy on the trip went straight out to buy a pair after that trip once their fingers thawed out...
The shell is a thin goretex, about as breathable as it gets, with a second layer of relatively thin leather on the palm, thumb, and fingers. Get them if fine seam taping appeals to you, very dextrous and comfortable. The stitching on the leather is like a fine driving glove. I use them helicopter skiing, which means the conditions are as variable as it gets. The removable liner is likewise finely sewn with no bulky seams, too warm for me to unless well under 0 F. I can't speak to durability yet, but they look fragile; presumably the warranty would cover major wear. Needs idiot cords, and the plastic clamp/strap on the back is disappointing-needs a solid piece of velcro or something firmer.
Pros:Great materials Great conceptGreat dexterityConsPrice Price PriceSome features need a bit more thinking outThey are wonderful gloves, mitten warm—inner liner has high loft without hindering dexterity. The cinch could use a little work because hitting it releases it; I wish they would've used a different mechanism—maybe non-quick release with non-stretch webbing? I do however love the fit of them, longer skinny fingered nosferatus should beware, these are for shorter fingered people—you might have to size up.
These gloves are exceptional. I haven't used a glove with better fit and dexterity. I was breaking pencil lead thick branches with ease and all the while staying dry for the hours spent digging a snow cave. Even when the leather was cold and stiff from days and nights of being in the snow my fingers never felt debilitated. If my nostrils were bigger I could pick my nose during single digit outings.
