Nice all-inclusive kitI have two of these. One is for my day-hiking pack the other for my "bug out kit" (yes, i'm a little insane). Though the knife isn't of the highest quality it's definitely better than nothing in a pinch and the added flashlight/whistle makes it a pretty useful piece of equipment. For you ounce-counting ultra-lighter's this is definitely out of the question as the plastic box that encompasses the kit weighs more than all of the contents of the kit combined, but if weight isn't an issue for you and you're looking for a good "grab and go" emergency kit/survival system this is a good value for the price. I would say it's important to realize this kits limitations in that its not the kind of thing that can survive being used on a daily basis (other than just letting it sit in your pack) but in a survival situation or just for a quick day hike this kit is a good call.

You can't go wrong with this as a backup kit. buy it and pack it, forget it. and your love it when yThere are about a hundred pre-made survival kits out there and I've seen them all but only about five are worth the money, and two of them are from adventure medical. this one is the best. It's not quantity but quality. All the items look and work great and the case is functional and has room to spare, so you can fill it with what you want to make it better ( personial meds and such).
