Moosejaw Job Postings

Moosejaw is the greatest place in the world to work according to the owner's mom. Moosejaw has a thriving internet business and shops throughout Michigan (Ann Arbor, Birmingham, East Lansing, Grosse Pointe, Partridge Creek, and Rochester Hills) and in Chicago, Illinois.

To work at Moosejaw, you've gotta have a decent sense of humor and an enthusiastic attitude. Knowledge of outdoor apparel and equipment is a big plus.

Here's how you apply for a job at Moosejaw:

1. Scroll down through our current job openings below. They're always being updated, except when they’re not. Which is never.
2. Complete our application by clicking here, saving it to your computer and emailing it back to us at jobs@moosejaw.com. I forgot to include a step - you must complete the application before emailing it back to us. We may or may not accept blank applications.
3. I just like the number three.
4. If you're interested in a shop position, stop by and say hi. They'll let you fill out an application right then and there and may even give you a free tattoo (temporary not permanent).
5. If you don't like any of the above options and still want to give a shout out click here to email us.

Moosejaw.com, Customer Service Reps & Warehouse Workers

We at the internet like to call ourselves inet folks. Folks may be one of the most underutilized words in the French Canadian language. Although we wouldn’t know. We’re getting ready for our busy holiday season and that’s where this little ditty comes in. Ok, here goes. Ditty, ditty, ditty. That part was supposed to be sung. We’re looking for seasonal customer service reps, warehouse shippers and mimes to add to our headquarters located in Madison Heights, Michigan. Not really mimes, but more like the essence of mimes.

Customer service reps have an enthusiastic and positive attitude while assisting customers over the phone and through IM with internet orders and questions. We have a reputation for giving the finest service in the world and having tons of fun while doing it.

Warehouse shippers pack and ship Moosejaw merchandise to customers, handling each package with care and love. Lots of love and besos. We also have a reputation of playing great music in the warehouse. And sometimes taking breaks to shoot hoops.

A variety of schedules are available, including both full and part time hours. We're flexible. 70% of staff are gymnasts & 90% of staff can do the splits. I made that up. If you're not interested, please tell at least six friends, one ex-girl/boyfriend, and two enemies.

How to Apply:
Email your resume or Moosejaw application to jobs@moosejaw.com. Please include your hourly pay requirement and a brief description of your outdoor experience. Use job code CS for customer service and WH for our warehouse. Sorry, those were a lot of instructions.

Shop Staff, Outlet

The opposite of an outlet is an inlet. But an inlet doesn't sell cool clothing and apparel like our outlet store does. Nope. An inlet is all about water. Like lagoons and marshes. Water is decent.

Our outlet store in Madison Heights, Michigan, is looking for a few seasonal staff members for the upcoming holiday rush. Rush, rush, hurry, hurry love come to me. I couldn't help throwing in a tribute to Paula Abdul. Our outlet staff have an enthusiastic, fun and positive attitude while assisting customers with sales and product information. Many of them can dance pretty well. And some have decent hopscotch skills.

We're looking for candidates who are available to work on weekends from now through December, as well as weekdays December 14 through December 27. This is a part-time position running from November through December. So please snap to.

How to Apply:
Apply in person at the outlet Thursday through Sunday or email your resume/application to jobs@moosejaw.com. Please use job code OUTLET in the subject line of your email so we know what you’re applying for.

Shop Staff, Each & Every One of Our Shops

Our busy holiday season is quickly approaching. Yes, believe it or not, we’re already thinking about stuffing ourselves with turkey and pondering the age-old question of how cranberry sauce came to be in a can. That means we’re looking for seasonal sales associates to have a menagerie of funness with our customers. And to sell them stuff. I totally know that funness isn’t a word, so don’t worry.

There are many perks to working at Moosejaw. I’ll list three for you now:

1. Most coworkers will laugh at your jokes. Even if they're just being polite.
2. You'll never sit in a cubicle. Unless you build one around yourself.
3. Amazing discounts on outdoor apparel, gear and Moosejaw products.

How to Apply:
Apply in person at the shop of your choice or email your resume/application to jobs@moosejaw.com. Please make sure you let us know which shop you’re applying for. Otherwise you could have a 100-mile commute. JK

Moosejaw Models Wanted

We're looking for a few female models, age 18-25, to pose gracefully in the coolest products we carry. Models will be used for in-house photo shoots at our headquarters located in Madison Heights, Michigan. This will be great exposure (and I don't mean indecent by any means) for up-and-coming models as they'll appear in our print, catalog and online material.

  • Modeling experience is preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older. No ifs, ands or buts.
  • Michigan applicants only. Although we love the rest of the country, we're quite partial to Michigan. Oh yeah, and Moosejaw will not be paying for expenses to travel to our headquarters. So it'd probably save you a lot of money in gas if you live in state.

    How to Apply:
Email your resume or work history, along with no more than 3 pictures, to models@moosejaw.com. We're very serious about the 3-picture limit, so if you send 4 we'll think you're not great about following directions. Sorry to be so mean.

Please use job code MOD so we know what you're applying for. MOD probably stands for modernization of dinnertime. Or maybe it's model.

Winter Internships Offered at Moosejaw’s Headquarters

Internships are a great way to get hands-on experience in your field of study. And I'm not just saying that because we want you to work for us for free. There are so many famous interns who have paved the way for the students of today. Monica Lewinsky. LC from The Hills. Brad from The Rachel Zoe Project. Actually I don't think Brad is an intern, more like a fashion slave. In the Netherlands an internship is called a stage. And not just in an analogy type of way. I think it's because an internship is like a high school theater performance. With better props. Enough of this ode to internships. Let's get down to business.

Moosejaw is offering several internships for the winter semester. These internships are based out of our headquarters in Madison Heights, Michigan. They're unpaid internships requiring an 8 -24 hour/week commitment. The schedule and length of internship is flexible. Students must be able to receive college credit for their experience. Read below for the dets. Or deets. However you prefer.

    Buying Internship

We're looking for an intern to assist our buying team with their data entry and administrative needs. Our buyers buy stuff. They buy things like apparel, footwear, daypacks and tents. And a lot of other stuff. I'm not going to list all of the other stuff because our buyers like to keep an air of mystery. I wasn't sure if the saying was air of mystery, aire of mystery or error of mystery, so I went with my first instinct. I bet I'm wrong and you're laughing at me right now. Not now. But now.

    Responsibilities Include:
  • Contacting vendors to request workbooks, e-order forms, UPC spreadsheets and price lists
  • Updating vendor contact information in Moosejaw’s database
  • Collecting vendor agreements
  • Mapping color names in Moosejaw's database
  • Verifying the accuracy of product information on Moosejaw's website
  • Analyzing the competitive marketplace, including monitoring competitor and vendor websites
  • Entering detailed SKU information into UPC spreadsheets

    Internship Requirements:
The buying intern must be focused, organized and detail oriented. Must also have highly developed analytical and problem solving skills, and be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team environment. Must be proficient in MS Excel and should have an interest in pursuing a purchasing-related career. Outdoor product knowledge is preferred.

    How to Apply:
Email your resume to jobs@moosejaw.com. Please use job code BI. BI could stand for bubblegum indigestion. But it doesn't. I can't tell you what it stands for because of the buyers and their air of mystery. Or error of mystery. Whatever.

    Internet Marketing Internship

Our internet marketing intern will assist with our internet marketing efforts. I used the phrase "internet marketing" twice in the last sentence. That's got to be some sort of world record. This is the shortest paragraph I've ever written. So sad.

    Responsibilities Include:
  • Assisting with Search Engine Optimization (SEO), including developing keyword lists, as well as creating content on the websites and affiliated networks
  • Assisting with paid search, including creating effective ad copy, gathering reports and data, and identify areas for improvements
  • Designing affiliate banners
  • Becoming familiar with comparison shopping engines and identifying areas of opportunities
  • Writing ad copy, gathering new key words and assisting with key word discovery
  • Analyzing the competitive marketplace, including monitoring competitor websites and promotions

    Internship Requirements:
The internet marketing intern must be organized and detail oriented. Must also have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team environment, striking the appropriate balance between working independently and keeping supervisor informed. If you can juggle, while riding a unicycle, while dressed like a clown, you should be in a circus. But this might also be a good experience for you.

The internet marketing intern must be able to perform multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities, must be proficient in MS Excel. Experience with Google Adwords, web analytics terminology, capabilities and reporting is preferred, but not required.

    How to Apply:
Email your resume to jobs@moosejaw.com. Please use job code IM so we know what you're applying for. IM is MI reversed. And MI stands for Michigan. Or millennium incyclopedia. I know encyclopedia is spelled with an e, but this is my job posting so I can write incyclopedia if I want to.

    Social Media Marketing Internship

We're seeking another intern for our marketing team. This one is all about social media and will assist with our social media marketing efforts through Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Flickr and the Moosejaw blog, as well as Moosejaw characters, promotions and customer email responses.

    Responsibilities Include:
  • Assisting with the management of our social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Flickr, our blog, etc.
  • Developing and implementing social media campaigns to drive increased customer involvement, build followers and drive online sales
  • Answering customer posts on social media channels
  • Researching the latest social media sites and best practices
  • Assisting with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) through social media by reviewing blog links, tagging, RSS feeds, etc.
  • Analyzing the competitive marketplace, including monitoring competitor websites and social media campaigns
  • Assisting with Moosejaw character responses to customers, including engaging the customer in Moosejaw Madness and building customer loyalty

    Internship Requirements:
The social media marketing intern must be organized and detail oriented. Must also have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team environment, striking the appropriate balance between working independently and keeping supervisor informed.

The social media marketing intern must be able to perform multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities, must be proficient in MS Excel. Experience with social media sites is required, at least as a committed user. If you're highly addicted to Facebook or Twitter your friends may think you need professional help but we think you're tha bomb. Yeah I actually just wrote tha bomb. Totally embarrassing. Experience with internet marketing, search engine optimization and web analytics is preferred, but not required.

    How to Apply:
Email your resume to jobs@moosejaw.com. Please use job code SM so we know what you're applying for. Otherwise we'll pretend you're applying to be a mime and your interview will be silent picture style.

    Shop Training & Communications Internship

Our shop training & communications intern will assist Moosejaw's retail training & communications manager with our training and communications efforts. That was a whole lot of training and communications speak. I once saw someone write in Morse code. It wasn't much better than Braille. This internship is based out of our headquarters in Madison Heights, Michigan, but does require travel to our Metro Detroit shop locations.

    Responsibilities Include:
  • Shadowing the retail training & communications manager to gain insight into day-to-day store operations
  • Participating in monthly manager meetings and communicating with the shop management team
  • Working with Moosejaw’s IT team to enhance shop functionality and the accounting team to solve daily issues
  • Assisting the shop management team in their training process and developing shop staff in the area of selling and service
  • Utilizing our Point Of Sale (POS) and CrossView (CV) systems, maintaining our CrossView focus list, communicating with shop management team to solve CV daily issues, and creating training tools based on CV and selling skills
  • Writing and updating shop policy and procedure

    Internship Requirements:
The shop training & communications intern must be organized and details oriented, have excellent problem solving skills and a strong work ethic with high personal initiative. Must work well with a wide range of people including shop managers, IT and accounting associates and Moosejaw customers. Must be able to strike the appropriate balance between working independently and keeping supervisor informed. Super sleuth detective skills are helpful. If you can find a needle in a haystack, it's possible that you belong in a fairy tale. I've always wanted to meet Hansel and Gretel.

Coursework in a retail, communications or IT related field is required. Must be comfortable learning new computer software and systems. Proficiency in MS Excel is preferred. Oh yeah, and the shop training & communications intern must have some mad communications skills. Otherwise they'll just be called the shop training intern. And losing 1/5 of your title is never fun.

    How to Apply:
Email your resume to jobs@moosejaw.com. Please use job code TC so we know what you're applying for. TC in the house.
