Hey y'all, I'm Peter, the captain of the ship here in EL! Born and raised here in Michigan, I've lived as far North as Lake Superior and as far West as the Pacific, but I came home to the hard workin' state of Michigan and have been growing with Moosejaw for the past 6 years. I'm most at home riding my John Deere, running my welder, or on the floor at Moosejaw having fun and geeking out about gear! If you need help finding a rain shell, growing potatoes, or fixin' the hitch on your tractor, I'm your man!

The East Lansing Moosejaw has been around since 1994. That's the same year Justin Bieber was born. While The Biebs committed the next 18 years to becoming a dreamy pop icon with the voice of a songbird, the EL Moosejaw Shop strove to become the best place to get awesome outdoor gear and apparel along with the legendary knowledge and service of an experienced staff. Our peeps have even been known to teach sweet dance moves to any customer who asks us in a British accent. Whether it's a new daypack for school, a new outfit for your vacation, or a new tent for your next hiking trip; we challenge you to find a place more FUN than our shop to get everything for your next adventure whether it's in East Lansing or Isle Royale. Oh yeah, did I mention we have a Super Nintendo and an Air Hockey table too? So we have that going for us, which is nice.

Jackets Footwear Climbing Backpacking Clothing

Is there anything worse than walking to class when it's freezing? Well, I'm sure there is but I absolutely hate it. However, this year I went to Moosejaw to get the perfect jacket for walking to class. A bunch of other peeps were doing it too. We have brands like Patagonia, Arc'teryx and The North Face. Besides grabbing a water-proof shell and a lightweight fleece, I picked out the best full-length down jacket that will for sure keep me warm come winter time. Coincidentally, my parents got me a car this year. Therefore, I don't have to walk to class anymore. Perfect timing, right? Oh well, at least I have a couple sweet jackets to wear when I drive past all the peeps walking.

Everyone walks everywhere in East Lansing. We couldn't figure it out at first, we gave up trying actually. But then, we thought a Moosejaw shop would be a good fit in East Lansing because we have a wide variety of shoes for all you walkers to wear. Whether you're walking to class, home from that frat party last night, or deciding to be adventurous and walking by the river, we have you covered. With brands like Merrell and The North Face, we will make sure your feet are comfortable and looking stylish. Take it from me, you never know who you will see walking on the street. I saw my ex-girlfriend last week. She wants to get back together. Thank you, Sanuk.

Apparently, I tried climbing my dorm building last night. That's frowned upon. Did you know that? I used all the gear that I had bought that day from Moosejaw. I used my helmet by Black Diamond and my harness from Arc'teryx. I was wearing a bunch of other gear that I bought from there as well. For example, my ATC, chalk bag, climbing shoes, carabiner and some other things. Anyways, I looked pretty sweet. Well at least I thought I did, until Officier Buzzkill decided to yell at me over a mega-phone. Really dude? Anyways, come to Moosejaw and not only will they tell you what you need for climbing, they will tell you all the right places to climb (dorms not included).

East Lansing is home to a pretty decent sized college. I can't think of the name, but it will come to me. Anyways, whether you need a backpack for class or for the trail, we've got your back. Literally. Our shop staff will suggest brands like Osprey, Gregory, and The North Face to make sure that you are comfortable and practical. Not to mention, everyone will probably be talking about that thing on your back when they see you walk by. And no, I'm not talking about your "sweet" tattoo of Sparty. We aren't like those other retailers that just suggest anything. We will show you the best backpack for what you need. Just ask.

I wore my Moosejaw Axel-Foley Detroit t-shirt last night to Ricks. Needless to say, I got a ton of compliments and free shots. Our Moosejaw shop has a ton of different types of clothing for you to wear all around East Lansing. Whether it's yoga pants by Lole or snow pants from The North Face, zip-ups from Patagonia or hoody's by Prana, we will make sure you get exactly what you're looking for. For lounging or raging, we'll hook you up. I wonder what will happen tonight when I wear my Mountain Hardwear t-shirt tonight. Wish me luck.
