Who would have ever thought that coming from such a dysfunctional background would have set the destiny for an individual to build the large, and positively influential, Element skateboards company. Fate or not, it took only a short time for this person to find their inspiration. After years of following a wayward path, he was struck with a revelation; one that would chance his life forever...

John Schillereff was in his youth with the only think keeping him grounded being the subcultures he had submerged himself into and skateboard under his feet. Then one day, when listening deeply to Bob Marley, everything changed. If was at that moment that he knew what he had to do; he had to get on the right track and do something positive with himself. His life had been turned around in that one single moment with the idea of starting Element skateboards.

The first incarnation of Element came in the form of collaborative company called Underworld Element. With a mixture of different styles, Underworld Element for the most part reflected a raw vibe. But the good stuff didn't last. Underworld Element was plagued with fundamental flaws and things started to go downhill.

Johnny had two choices: either take Underworld Element under his wing and try to turn the failing business around, or abandon the project and start a new brand altogether. Johny chose a bit of both and did something that he had always wanted to do. He immediately dropped the first half of the company's name (Underworld) and turned the entire company around into something positive, something universal that people from all walks of life could identify with. It wasn't merely a name change; he made drastic changes to what the company represented and the way that the public viewed it. Element was born, the negative was turned into positive, and the Element journey began. Starting with Element skateboards then progressing into Element clothing and Element shoes.

Becoming what Element skateboards is today didn't happen overnight, but good things come to those who wait. "It took years of hard work, imagination and the will to not give up. We stayed focused, practiced patience, kept our path, and eventually things began to fall into place."

As the word spread, the Element flame ignited and the wind began blowing a dream team of athletes and individuals in the direction of Element skateboards, fanning the flames with that much more force. "We're all turned into Element... not an image, but exactly who we are from the bottom of our heart's. That is what Element is all about... being a positive force in the universe and comfortable in your own skin."

Element skateboards are the top brand in the current market, and there's no questioning why. Element skateboards have a great way to endure this world is by using the Element way of thinking hence why the flames spread far and wide. Element skateboards are not the only focus, with time Element has expanded to include Element clothing and shoes to fully equip their consumers.
